Very presentable 1962 BuickSpecial2 dr Convertible, This car is an excellent candidate for restoration. It has a very solid bod, The doors open and close nicely. Mostly all the trim is present and in good condition. The front and rear bumpers are very nice. All the glass is in good conditio, the grill is in excellent condition. It has power steering, power brakes and push button radio, all of which function well. The car is an American classic which looks great and has tons of potential. The black vinyl top has a small hole in it that shows in the pictures, the rear window is discolored & coming unglued and should be addressed. Chrome with moderate pitting and flaws. Paint is presentable. Interior was redone in Blue & White and is very complete and isusableas-is, but really could use new upholstery. Overall a good car. The engine bay is clean & spacious for aSpecial of this year.A great candidate for restoration or just drive and enjoy as is.Classic convertibles are naturally more desirable than the coupes, as well as being more expensive, and thisBuick is just beginning to come into its own as a highly collectible and sought after car. Under the hood is a 198 cubic inch V6 Producing 155 horsepower, has an automatic transmission, powered steering. For the 1962 model year, the Skylark became a model in its own right. It used the previous year's basic sheet metal but was available in two new body styles: a two-door convertible coupe (shared with the Special and Special Deluxe models) and a two-door (pillarless) hardtop unique to it. Tuning of the 215-cubic-inch V8 increased power to 190 hp (140 kW) at 4800 rpm. In 1962, the Skylark Special was also the first American car to use a V6 engine in volume production; it earned Motor Trend 's Car of the Year for 1962. This 198 cid Fireball was engineered down from the 215 and used many of the same design parameters, but was cast in iron. Output was 135 hp (gross) at 4600 rpm and 205 lb•ft (278 N•m) at 2400 rpm. In their test that year, Road & Track was impressed with Buick's "practical" new V6, saying it "sounds and performs exactly like the aluminum V8 in most respects." There is a spare tire and jack that go with the car as well. The trunk is very solid. We would like to thank the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight for their unique location used at many of our photo shoots.Be sure to visit this historical museum if you find yourself in the Dallas, Texas area. Texas Classic Cars of Dallas' showroom is located only minutes away. The undercarriage is actually in very good condition. Some of the undercoating is chipping off, but the floors seem solid.
