The Buick Centurion was one of Buick’s shortest production model offerings in their history. Even though the sales increased each and every year, the Centurion nameplate was faded out continuing on as the LeSabre. Produced for just three years, 1971-1973, these rare Centurions are found limited in a convertible form. Only 10,296 were produced during the entire production run making them very desirable in original form today!
We are very pleased to offer this lovely, number’s matching 1973 Buick Centurion 455 convertible! It has been repainted once to its original color of Arctic White with matching white top with an all original Saddle interior! the optional, numbers matching XF-code 455ci V8 with factory dual exhaust, this full size muscle car could certainly hold its own on the streets! Mated to its original 73-BC coded Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed automatic transmission also makes it a pleasure to drive in any environment! Other features include cold air conditioning, power steering, power front disc brakes, AM/FM radio with windshield antenna, power convertible top with optional hard parade boot covers, power windows, tilt steering column, remote driver’s mirror, deluxe front and rear seatbelts, door edge guards, and wheel well opening trim!
This car was owned and cared for by the same owner from 1979-2010. The original owner purchased the car out of Jonesboro, IL and it stayed an Illinois car nearly its entire life before coming to St. Louis. Today, the odometer reads just 83,163 original miles, but we lack enough supporting documentation to say with total confidence. It was terrifically maintained, unmodified, and appears to have been garage kept its entire life! It is truly solid throughout and drives out wonderfully! Our example was recently serviced and received an all new exhaust system with mufflers, new tires, and new door, roof rail, and pillar post weather stripping and seals in December 2010 as they all appeared original and had aged over time. The convertible top motor and relay were just replaced in June 2011 along with a complete air conditioning service. And just this July 2016 a new convertible top & top cables were installed. The original owner’s manual, stamped warranty booklet, emissions leaflet, and consumer guide are all still in the glove box! The trunk still has the original matching spare, jack, and wrench. This is a wonderful opportunity for a seasoned collector, or enthusiast looking for interesting future investments to start a collection! These full-size American classics, particularly the examples with large power plants under the hood, are quickly making their way overseas to collections abroad!
