1928 Buick MODEL 28-55 DELUXE SPORT open TOURING twin sidemounts. Additional Info:
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CAR IS CURRENTLY IN THE U.K.
Ihave only had time to use the car 4 times so far this summer due to other commitments! She really needs to go to a good home to be used and cared for and is only for sale due to storage issues of such a large open top car. I also wish to increase my American motorcycle collection.!
THIS IS THE RAREST OF ALL 1928 BUICKS
1928 Buick MODEL 28-55 SPORT OPEN TOURING
Please note that this is NOT a standard small Buick tourer masquerading as a longer wheelbase model and that this cars body style and wheelbase is extremely rare (possibly one of only 2 or 3 left worldwide).
The original body plate and chassis tags are still intact on the car.
It is a very large and impressive MODEL 28-55 DELUXE SPORT TOURING MODEL with twin side mounts and a long 128" wheelbase and an additional 2 jump seats making her a 7 seater. It has an undocumented but interesting history having spent the majority of its life in Egypt, I recently traced and eventually spoke to the guy who owned it just after it was brought back from Egypt and he confirmed much of the story that came with the car, but is in his eighties and his memory wasnt what it used to be so I think some of the finer details need further research to confirm names and dates etc. As such the car is very solid.
Alledgedly ordered by the Egyptian government and assembled/bodied in London by General motors LTD, Edgeware Road, London before being shipped over to Cairo. Then supposedly used for Film work in Egypt later in its life, finally ending up as the Cairo fire chiefs parade car before being brought back to the UK.
She was fully restored on her return from Egypt in the late 1990s, but is now mellowed and does show a patina of use and light wear here and there again but she isstill a lovely old girl who will hold her own at any car show. She has several additional back up electric fuel pumps installed to ensure reliable starting and running and get over the usual vapour lock issues suffered by some cars of this era.The now has a period steel touring trunk mounted on the rear luggage rack which is in use to store the side screens and a few service spares ( car comes with a few little bits and pieces, condensors, spare plugs etc).Any questions are welcome, I have many more photographs if required. The car had a brand new large heavy duty 6 volt battery installed was UK mottested ( even though it is mot exempt! )just before being put into storage for the winter before lastChristmas.
