1971 BMW 2800cs not 3.0cs

1971 BMW 2800cs Additional Info:

The BMW 2800 CS Automatic (US) VIN 2280443 was manufactured on September 07th, 1970 and delivered on October 06th, 1970 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. Some time during its life the engine was replaced with a current engine VIN 2270628 which is another 2800cs engine. The reason for doing that isunknown, whetherit was a replacement under warranty or any other reason, the BMW headquarters in Germany could not confirm. Even though the badge on the trunk says 3.0cs it is in fact a 2800cs and not 3.0cs. This E9 also wasupgradedto a 5spd manual transmission from a factory automatic that it wasoriginallybuilt with. Like all or most other 45 year old E9s out there this one has rust, paint defects, interior defects andmalfunctionlike heater fan or power windows. This is a handyman special, it runs and drives, has decent tires and the car seems to be a complete unit. Perhaps a good candidate for your ideas..
