The E30 3 Series is an iconic BMW, as it offers a fun driving experience, a balanced chassis, and handsome, classic styling. This particular 325 takes things to a completely different level, as it’s been heavily modified – and it now has a big Chevrolet V8 under the hood, paired with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. It also boasts a limited-slip differential, Wilwood brakes, and an upgraded suspension to cope with the power increase. Plus, this 325 is offered with a clean, accident-free Carfax report and the thrill of no reserve, further adding to the appeal. I love seeing engine-swapped cars on Cars & Bids, and I'm happy to offer this E30.
Highlights
THIS... is a 1986 BMW 325 Coupe, finished in Alpine White with a beige interior.
- This 325 is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission.
- The attached Carfax history report starts in 1990 and contains several gaps, but it shows no accidents or mileage discrepancies for the given period. It also shows it's been registered mostly in California and Arizona.
- This BMW's factory-fitted 2.5-liter 6-cylinder engine has been replaced by a 6.2-liter V8 Chevrolet 383 stroker engine. The list of modifications reported by the seller also includes a Tremec T5 5-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, a power steering upgrade, black-painted 17-inch Style 601M wheels, custom interior upholstery, interior gauges, an Alpine head unit, and more as detailed below.
- BMW introduced the E30-generation 3 Series in the United States late in the 1983 model year. It was originally offered exclusively with a 4-cylinder engine, but 6-cylinder-powered models were quickly added to the range. The 325e notably joined the line-up for 1984 as the first 6-cylinder-powered E30 sold in the United States, and the 325iX released for 1988 was the first series-produced BMW with permanent all-wheel-drive. BMW made several updates to the E30 and production ended after the 1991 model year.
- Power comes from a 6.2-liter V8 engine. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
