1987 BMW 3-Series Additional Info:
Due to unfortunate circumstances, I am unable to see my plans for this car through. Offering up my nearly completed project for the next owner to enjoy!
1987 BMW 325I convertible, 5-speed car. This is a an actual european model car that was imported in '86 to Charleston, SC, and not federalized; it still wears it's original european spec bumpers, valances, grills, gauge cluster, and check panel. The car is all original, with exception to the wheels, radio, and paint.
The car has had a recent glass-out repaint in it's original Diamant-Schwarz color. The glass and trim were removed, the car body stripped down to bare-metal, a few small dings/dents removed, and thoroughly repainted with PPG two stage paint including door jambs and trunk area. There is no rust or rot on the body or underside of the car, and the body panels are arrow-straight. Convertible top and rear window are in excellent condition.
Mechanically, the oil has been changed recently, and the shifter, center support bearing, and flex disc were recently serviced. A UUC dual-shear selector rod was added at this time, to improve shifter feel and limit play. The brakes were serviced in 2016, and still have ample material remaining. Basic tune-up items and a valve adjust were also performed in 2016. Bilstein struts with new upper mounts were installed in 2018. 15" D-Force wheel set and Cooper tires are new, and in excellent condition. Maintenance records going back several years are included with the vehicle.
The manual convertible top works well, power windows operate correctly, and all functions of the gauge cluster are operational. The interior is in fair condition overall, with some wear on the seats, carpet, and the typical cracking on the dashboard. Revamping the interior was to be my next and near-final stage of bringing this car back to a show-winner. Sadly, I have remained unemployed due to pandemic for too long, and am forced to cut my losses.
The car currently runs and drives very well, and has been driven between Virginia and NC over the last few months without issue.
The car has a clean and clear Virginia title.
