Car is in great mechanical and cosmetic condition, engine runs smooth and strong, transmission is snappy, suspension and handling is tight, exhaust sounds great (but not too loud), always well maintained and garaged, a few minor knicks in the paint, Air Conditioning works, but needs a recharge. This car looks fabulous and is amazing to drive!
The History of this CarI bought this car in 1999 in Plano, Texas from Norm Grills. Norm is a longtime BMW motorcycle and car enthusiast, and started a national club for the 6-series, called The Big Coupe Group, which still maintains a great technical section on maintaining the 635.
In addition to the M5 wing and custom wheels, the car has a short-throw shifter on the 5-speed manual (much more desirable than the automatic), front strut-brace, and of course a Dinan performance chip. The '85 models came with anti-lock brakes. The windows are tinted silver, and the whole car was repainted in its original color by a certified BMW shop in 1997. It has a JVC head unit, Infinity Kappa speakers, 12-disc player in the trunk, and Blaupunkt amp with capacitor driving the rear speakers.
It has all the options, and everything works and is in excellent condition. The AC needs a recharge, some electric window switches are slow to react, and the headliner in the sunroof needs to be reglued. It has always been garaged, and never driven in the Northern winter. It spent its whole life in Texas before I owned it, so I could not let myself be the one to expose it to evils of salt and snow. The car is stored in Champaign, Illinois, but I can deliver to Chicago at no charge.
