100% RUST FREE 528e (E28)

ONE OWNER
You have found a fairly rare specimen, especially these days. This 1986 BMW 528e is mostly original aside from the obvious, tires, battery, windshield, etc. and has not been modified in any way except for the 'old-school' Kenwood stereo and the window tint. The car shows no accident history and I did not detect any post-factory paintwork on the car, no overspray on the moldings, etc. The car reportedly has had a single owner it's entire life until the lady that owned it passed and her son ended up with the car, I purchased the car personally from him about a year ago and he informed me of the life of the car at that time. You will notice that the Autocheck report 'calculates' there to be two owners, this occurredwhen the son re-titled it in his name thus triggering a 'second owner' notification due to a new title being drawn. You will notice that there is a 'Route 66' dealer decal on the trunk-lid, when the lady passed, the son consigned it there but ultimately decided not to sell it at that time. Now, this car is far from perfect and it shows some aging and some wear as to be expected from a 34yr old vehicle. Aside from getting it running and giving it a good cleaning, I did not attempt to restore or recondition anything on this car, as the old saying goes, "they are only original once", so, you get the car the way I found it. This car will be a perfect candidate to enjoy and drive or you can perform a restoration on it (it really does not need much), starting with 'good bones' and a running, driving, near fully functioning car is far better than messing with a complete 'basket-case'. It had sat for about 10yrs prior to my purchase so I had the car towed to my shop where we drained the fluids and installed a new fuel pump and battery, that is all we had to do to 'wake it up'. The car runs and drives very well for being as old as it is. I own this car personally so there are no taxes or fees associated with the car, you will get a notarized, clean, clear, actual mileage title along with a bill of sale. Please take the time to read my in-depthdescription below and review the 100 photos including several of the undercarriage and suspension that shows that there is no corrosion and it has never been damaged.
The body of the car is nice and straight, I have depicted the four small spots where there are some blemishes below, other than that there are no surprises. The original paint looks good with no spots that appear to be faded away and there are no spots where the paint is 'missing', it could be buffed out to a higher standard than it is currently but again, I wanted to leave it as original as possible, the paint does have a shine to it though as you can see the reflections in the photos. Glass is in good condition, it has had a new windshield at some point and it is in great shape, sides are nice as well, they have the older tinting on them that can be peeled off or left alone, you can still see through the tint very clearly. Bumpers are nice and straight and all moldings and trim are intact showing minimal aging of course. All lights and lenses are intact and in good working order, including the fog lamps and license plate lamps. Tires have great tread remaining on them but they are over 10 years old and show some aging, they are perfect for running around town or moving the car around but I would replace them if putting my family in the car for a long road trip. Factory alloys are all intact as well and show minimal aging, all center caps are included.
The interior of the car is very clean. It does show some aging here and there as you can see in the fabric of the seats and the fabric on the rear door panels, again, it's ALL original and I did not want to disturb that by replacing panels of the seats. Door panels are in great shape otherwise including the rear ashtrays which open and close normally, rear deck under the back window is in nice shape, etc. The dash pad itself has many fractures in it, the Arizona sun is not kind to anything under a clear piece of glass so it had to be covered with the carpeted dash mat, you could probably do a better job of positioning and fastening that dash cover down as it is specifically stitched to perfectly contour every aspect of the dash or you can find a replacement or a 'dash-cap'. The car does not have any tobacco, pet or musty odors inside either. The turn signal lever was broken when I got the car, I did a repair on that so it will stay in place but if you decide to do any driving with the car, you will want to replace that ($90 part here on Ebay) as I am not sure how long that will hold up. The car comes with a full set of Lloyds mats (not the OEM mats but I suspect were delivered with the car new) which are cut-specific for the car and look period-correct with the 'BMW' script on them.
Mechanically the car is quite healthy, I have put approximately 100 miles on it personally and it has behaved quite well. No shimmy or shake, the brakes feel good and it accelerates well for a 120HP mid eighties sedan. Transmission shifts well including the kick-downwhen you put the pedal to the floor. It also holds the road very well and it tracks straightdown the freeway. The nice thing is that aside from the power antenna (motor is working when powered on or off but mast does not go up or down, likely the nylon cable has deteriorated, can be pulled up and pushed in manually), power mirrors and the power headrest on the passenger seat (motor buzzes but headrest does not go up or down), everything else works! I have not tested the cruise control, all power windows, power locks, power seats (in all directions), stereo, air conditioning blows cold (converted to R134 refrigerant in 2001) and gauges appear to be in good working order including the 'check' panel up above the rear view mirror. There are no warning or 'check' lights on either. Also, for what ever reason the speedometer is working but the odometer is not rolling, I did not dig into that, the car looks the part of a lower mile car and it drives like it as well, I also hold a clean, clear 'Box A' actual mileage title with the car so that is how the car will be sold.
Do not miss this opportunity to own a true classic BMW sedan in completely corrosion free condition with a sparkling clean southwest history. There have been a couple of these 1986 models that have been sold in the past 6 months I have seen (with a manual shift), slightly better condition and 138k miles sold on Bring A Trailer for $9000, in contrast, a 124k mile car sold there as well for $4200, it was a rusty Massachusetts car in Brown so obviously my car is worth far more than that. This car should easily do between $7500 and $9000 but I am leaving that in YOUR hands, this car will go to a new home in just seven days, it is offered with absolutely NO RESERVE. Please call me or message me PRIOR to bidding if you have any questions, if you bid and you win you own it. I can be reached any time at (602)315-4055. I am happy to assist with transport as well. Thanks for looking at my BMW 528e.
