Features
Limited slip rear differential, sport seats, sport suspension, fog lights, basketweave wheels, and front valence.
Overall Condition
This car has been garage kept and has been well maintained...a more complete list of recent repairs is shown below. The top is brand new within the past year. There are no warning lights lit. Power windows, heat, central locking system, wipers, headlights, taillights, tach, and speedometer work fine. The car is one of the nicer ones you will come across. There are no leaks, sputters, smoke, clanks, clunks, or engine issues. The car runs very strong, transmission shifts smooth with no grinds, no clutch slippage.
Exterior
The body is straight on every panel and is free of dents, dings, or scratches. The VIN numbers match everywhere. The paint on the body has a rich, deep shine. The car was parked in a garage and it looks that way. Also, there are no rust issues. The basketweave wheels are in mint condition with zero scratches or curb rash and new matching tires on all four corners.
Interior
The interior of the car is all original and has mint BMW floor mats. This car comes with a full size spare in the trunk. The sport seats are in great condition.
Mechanical
Approx $6000 in mechanical work has been put into this car in the past year.
The car currently has the original bulletproof M42 motor. The motor runs as strong as ever and you will be hard pressed to find one that feels as smooth as this through the entire power range. The clutch grabs nicely as well with no slipping. The motor runs off a new timing chain just replaced and it makes no noise.
Recent work done on car past 500 miles this year (with receipts):
New convertible top - $1500
New timing chain/guides (fixed rattling noise) - $900
New steering rack (was leaking power steering fluid) - $1250
BMW 9-piece control arm kit (rebuilt entire front steering for tight feel) - $1300
*included both front control arms/ball joint assemblies, steering tie rods, stabilizer links and all bushings
New set of matching 4 tires - $520
Rear engine seal and all transmission seals -$250
Brakes and rotors (all 4 corners) and fluid flush - $425
New battery - $125
New spark plugs - $175
New drive belts - $80
All fluids and general tune-up items done
Many other different random parts such as mass air flow sensor, bushings, oil level sensor, relays, fuel pump, wiper motor etc have been replaced in the past few years. (>$1000)
Overall it's a turn-key car that can be driven anywhere. Only selling due to a divorce.
The car is 27 years old and will qualify for antique plates/emissions exempt if you chose to go that route like me. Also, classic insurance is $9/month through Hagerty for me.
