I have spent a number of years collecting stuff to play with in my retirement but due to my ongoing bout with cancer I have been/am slowly reducing my inventory (now down to 5 cars, 1 Harley and a jet boat) of toys. Every one of my vehicles is absolutely functional and the cosmetics are always the final step (except my 3 completed and garaged vehicles), which is why some of them don’t look like Prom dates. I drive all my vehicles every week to exercise them and they are kept on battery tenders. They run great and I always keep up their maintenance as and when necessary.
This “Roundie” could be used as a daily driver or you can complete the restoration as I was intending to do. I drive it 2-3 times per week and it is an absolute blast to drive. I have wanted one of these since I was 16 when they first came out and it breaks my heart to have to let it go. As far as I can tell, this car (the one missing chrome strip on driver’s side behind the door is in the trunk)is almost100%completeand original. You can tell from the photographs that there is minimal rust damage, the worst being the couple of small holes in the spare wheel area (see photographs) which I was told was due to sitting water. Because it had been stored in a garage for sometime (I was told 8 years) I removed and flushed the tank, replaced all fluids, went through and serviced the engine as necessary and had the carburetor rebuilt. I recently had new brakes (including new discs and wheel cylinders) installed, new tires all round, new front wheel bearings, replaced the battery, and had the radiator rodded and re-cored. Drivers seat and roof lining both need minor repair but apart from that it really just needs paint. At sometime it has had a repaint in blue Guayana which is now pretty ugly and faded, and my plan was to go back to the original Golf yellow (you can see in some of the photos), which I think is a sharp looking color. It has a clear California title with current registration through 7/28/2019. I also have it listed locally so this listing may be withdrawn at any time if sold. Just to be honest, open and fair with everyone I have $9K into it and the local listing is for $12K. Therefore please be aware that if I get a local full price offer for my $12K, my listing will be removed. You could also buy it now at the $12K price. These cars are appreciating at a rapid rate and it is a solid investment for a savvy buyer. I am happy to answer any and all questions but please be courteous enough to do that before bidding. Please remember I am a private seller so it is obviously sold as is with no type or warranty, written or implied. I also advise anyone who can, to come by and check it out personally if possible or have someone check it out for you After full payment I can hold the car for a while but depending on how long, it may either have to be moved to the street or cost you a reasonable and fair storage fee.
