1988 BMW 5-Series Additional Info:
Very nice 1988 535is for sale. Car drives like it’s on a cloud and is a lot of fun. 5 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly. Runs great. Majority of electrical items work: sunroof, windows, blower/heater (the AC does not blow cold, I have not tried to recharge or investigated). Lots of receipts from the mid 2,000’s. Just completed an oil / filter change - Mobile 1 + oem BMW filter (3 extra oem oil filters included). New air filter. Cooling system flushed, new radiator installed, new correct BMW coolant. ~178K miles (odometer is currently not working but I believe this is pretty close, the plastic gear wearing out is a common issue with these and needs to be replaced - you can look it up on line, not too difficult or expensive to fix). All tools present. Colour – Bronzitbeige Metallic (139) Engine M30 3.5 ltr Produced 4/10/87 5 speed manual Differential Lock 25% On Board Computer II Electric front seat adjustment As you'd expect from a 30 year old car it has some issues. Possible exhaust leak, it's not loud and very drivable, just sounds like it may have a small leak. A few areas of rust – left front at bottom of panel in particular and at the top of both fenders under the hood. Not major but should be addressed. The side view mirrors try to work, you can hear them and they move a bit but not properly. Dash has 2 small cracks on the top. Has an aftermarket stereo - I will include the original but don't know if it works. Purchased as a toy pretty recently (I'm a BMW / Lotus enthusiast) but realized quickly I don’t have the space or time (and too many toys) so this one needs to go to someone who'll enjoy it. If you have zero or negative feedback contact me prior to bidding or I'll cancel your bid. Please don't waste my time or yours, only bid if you have the funds and intend to buy. This car could be a fun project or just drive it. Good way for the kids to learn to drive a manual (as all should of course). Title in hand. Car is sold as is, no warranty. I accept cash or cashiers check - cashiers check must be cleared by my bank before car will be released. Car is for sale locally - I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks.
