1988 BMW 5-Series 528e Additional Info:
1988 BMW 528e California car, no rust, clear title, 5 speed manual transmission.
Car runs and drives very well, never overheats. Just had oil change and had car smogged, mechanic says there might be water in the oil, he is not sure and recommended I check head gasket or inspect head for cracks.
Spent over $4-5000 on car and updates, new tires, shocks, shock mounts, tie rod ends, etc and I am not capable, nor interested in taking head out for inspection. Again, car never overheats, pulls strong, drove car from northern CA to Orange county with no problems; I would drive it cross country without hesitation; these care were build like tanks; sheet metal is very thick. Engine starts quickly at first turn, clutch is very good, AC is cold. Leather seats have large cracks and wear, front seat covers included. I have clear title in hand. Exhaust looks to be original on the car but car just passed smog with no work needed; yet another reason to believe engine runs well and to doubt head gasket or head have problems but, I cannot be sure.
This is a CA car with no rust, I bought it from Napa Valley from a vineyard owner approx 1 year ago; who in his turn received car as gift when he purchased vineyard from local news anchor celebrity. The instrument cluster is believed to have been replaced with another unit with higher mileage (if you do a vehicle history report online, you'll see there is a mileage jump in a particular year suggesting cluster replaced with higher mileage cluster).
All in all, this is a nice car, rust free, with desirable 5 speed manual transmission and the last year of the E28 5-series, this 528e is believed to have the super ETA engine. Ready to be driven to your home! There is a dent in the front left fender from a reported fridge that fell on car - this lead to a crack in the hood hinge on the right (so I replaced both hinges). One window does not work.
