This unmolested example has a beautiful interior, perfect glass and very clean exterior, and no structural rust. The only rust showing
are very small patches of what most people call surface rust around the lower trunk lid, and around the gas tank. The spare tire well has
had 3 patches that I can tell and may have a couple of pinholes, but the metal seems structurally sound, moving it around the steel
naturally bounces back easily. The shock towers front are rear are perfect. The chassis was inspected when suspension was rebuilt and it
is in excellent shape with no rust.
The dash is in very good shape, has 2 or 3 very small cracks that hopefully show in the pictures. Black carpets are in great shape as are
the saddle brown seats. Front seats have been recovered with World Upholstery covers, backs look to be original in excellent condition.
The car has been painted a color close to Chamonix by a professional, even inside door jambs, according to previous owner, and is in very
good condition. Wheels are Minilite replicas. Original color was Florida, see the pics for areas like inside hood and trunk lid for the
Florida color.bimmer02.com/?tag=bmw-2002-colors
The engine runs like a champ and the carb has been upgraded to a Weber 32/36 with manual choke. Tranny is a 3 speed automatic and shifts
well. This car will make a perfect 5 speed manual car, since the automatic has a larger tunnel which better suited to the size of the 5
speed transmission.
Mileage is approx 90K showing on odometer, and according to previous owners mechanic will need a new engine, or overhauled engine in
another 20k miles. The reserve price reflects this already, so please bid considering this information.
This car would make a great electric conversion also, being very light and nimble, with lots of room for lithium-ion battery pack. Ask me
for more details like motor and inverter options if interested. Curb weight of this car is only 2068 lbs and 400+ of those are the
engine alone.
You will get a lot of looks in this ride, I got a thumbs up from a Tesla Model S on the freeway(!), and a lot of smiles. If you leave the
house with a frown...it won't last long after driving this car!
