1974 BMW 2002 Base Additional Info:
I've owned my 2002 since 1978. It needs nothing and has new tires. It comes with many extra parts including a transmission, cylinder head, rims. It presently has 15 inch rims and tires. Mechanically and cosmetically it is very good for a car approaching 45 years. It does have an original non-cracked dash and perfect rear shock towers. This 2002 has spent most of its life in the garage but it has been used over the last 40 years so be assured that many parts have been replaced including the radiator, shocks, starter, ignition switch, seats and the engine has been recently rebuilt. The mileage on the odometer doesn't reflect the true mileage which I would estimate at 120,000.
The engine uses no oil, the 4 speed shifts as it should and it has a limited slip differential. The interior has aftermarket blue seats (which co-ordinate nicely with the car's color). The rear seat is original and in excellent condition. You can have the original seats if you desire. The dash amazingly has no cracks. The passenger side wing window has been pinned closed (easily opened if you want to get in). The car was broken into about 35 years ago by some jerk looking for valuables. I never fixed it thinking that it could happen again. Never did and Idecided to leave it.
The car has its original windshield which is also amazing considering the number of windshields that I've replaced on my other cars. The rear quarter windows could use newrubber on their front edge. The car has no active rust areas.I've metal patched small sections of the floor and kept the patches exposed. The shock towers, rocker panels and all other vulnerable areas are absolutelysolid and the paint is good.
I'm selling a car that has been part of me for nearly 40 years. I'm trying to be real in describing its condition. It's not perfect, not even near perfect but it is probably one of the best all East coast 2002s still existing and will serve as ideal base for anyone wanting to do a restoration. I wouldn't because there's no need to.
My preference is that bidders arrange to see my 2002. Contact me through Ebay.
