With a production run of 13 years, the 6-series was the premier touring coupe of the 1980's (produced from 1976 to 1989). The 6 series body was offered in various forms ranging from the original carbureted 630Cs to the M6 and M635CSi supercars (of their time).

The US E24 M6 was appointed with all of the late-option comfort features, however suffered from power reductions due to catalyzation and other differences in order to comply with emissions restrictions of the 1980's. Its European M635 counterpart recieved the full 286hp. To combat this lethargy, the previous owner installed a S38B36 engine from a 1991 E34 M5 (100k miles), which provided a significant power increase to 315hp over the 256hp stock M6 numbers. The transmission, driveshaft and rear differential all remain stock to the original E24 chassis and function well.
Every aspect of this car has been thoroughly vetted by the current owner and is turn-key ready.I have replaced the following items over the past year:

  • New Pirelli Tires
  • New brake rotors
  • New brake pads
  • New brake wear sensors

All interior functions operate as they should. The climate control system slide switches, HVAC temperature control switch and fan speed switch have all been replaced. All power windows, and mirrors function, as well as the power sunroof. All lighting interior and exterior are completely functional as is the instrument gauge cluster and associated systems.

Compression test was performed on 3-4-17 indicating a healthy engine, with the results for each cylinder below (pictures in gallery):
1. 145 PSI
2. 149 PSI
3. 146 PSI
4. 145 PSI
5. 148 PSI
6. 152 PSI
The vehicle was fully repainted during the time of the engine swap it shows well with a few minor imperfections. The interior gray leather is in very good condition as well. There is some normal wear on the steering wheel, however the leather on the front seats and door panels were replaced and are in excellent condition. Rear leather seats and panels are original. The only significant imperfection is the dashboard which has some cracks but is covered neatly with a dash cover. While this is not a concourse car, it does show very well for a 29-year-old vehicle and is in overall very good condition. With the new suspension components and new tires this car drives, stops and handles extremely well and keeps up with the added power. It is ready to go to a good home where it can be immediately enjoyed.
