1953 Bentley R Type Additional Info:
I have many more pictures including underside shots, I can email in full resolution to any interested party.
B360TN with body number 6463 and engine B380T was sold new to C.W. Banks of British Fish Cannery fame who took delivery in October of 1953. It was ordered as an R-Type Saloon with floor mounted manual transmission and factory sunroof. According to the build records, the car was ordered as it is presented here in Midnight Blue livery with blue interior.
The car still carries its original coachwork, engine, chassis and equipment and the only diversion from original is an older repaint in its original factory colors. Likewise, the interior is entirely original and original in blue with grey terry 'headcloth' as Bentley called it.
We pick up the ownership scent in the 1970's when purchased by Michael I. Chazen of Suffern, NY. He sold the car to J. Dennis Mitosinka of Santa Ana, California and the car would remain to present day.
The car is currently in storage and available for inspections in Santa Paula, California.
It is not rusty and the repaint, commissioned in the late 1990's, has held up. the chrome and trim is original and while it is not pitted, it has staining and debris build up from 20 years of storage.
The interior is entirely original and the drivers seat is quite tattered. All of the original glass and brightwork remain and is in serviceable condition. The roof liner is excellent and the factory sunroof opens and closes easily.
Under the hood is the original engine which is not running. It does turn and has been lubricated in preparation of revival.
The undercarriage is clean and rust free. The car is wearing a set of 650 16 tires, one of which lost air and was replaced with the non-matching spare tire. The car rolls freely and is ready for recommissioning.
I am selling this car no reserve. I have a line of Rolls and Bentley cars that I am in the process of reviving and this one is at the end of the line so I am going to sell it as is.
Included with the car are the Bentley build records and other documentation provided by the factory. I can store the car for up to 30 days free of charge in Santa Paula. I have a clean title in the name of my dealership and can assist with getting this car to the port should it be purchased by someone overseas. I welcome calls at 860-883-3998 and will consider reasonable buy it now offers at any time. I've listed the car to be sold and hope new ownership can bring it back to health in a far more timely fashion than I am able to.
I have many more pictures of the car as well as the factory documents and am happy to email all to any interested buyer.
