1960 Austin Healey Sprite Additional Info:
PLEASE READ THIS EDIT: Since i have listed the car I have noticed a knocking in the engine. I am not sure as to what is causing it. The car has good oil pressure and continues to start right up and idle with no issue. Due to this now noticeable knock i am reducing the price by $1,0000 to $6800. This will more than compensate the cost for any engine repairs that the car may need.
This 1960 Austin Healey Sprite Is the perfect spring and summer project. The car needs only a couple of simple things to be road worthy again.
CLEAN TITLE WITH TEXAS TRANSFER PAPERWORK AVAILABLE IF THE BUYER WILL BE KEEPING THE CAR IN TEXAS.
This car runs, idles and starts well. (videos can be sent showing the car running and starting) The car starts right up with a quick pull of the switch, even after a few days of sitting. This car was repainted a few years ago and the paint is still in very presentable shape. There are a few chips in the paint where the bonnet meets the firewall as shown in the photos, but those are the only chips.
I purchased and installed a brand new battery just last week. The car hasn't been off the road for very long so theres NO known need for the fuel tank to be cleaned or the carbs to be reworked. There is no hard top but I do have side curtains.
Care was taken when putting the car back together after the repaint and the car now has reflective sound deadener under all of the carpet. The seats are in fantastic shape making the car a joy to sit in. As can be seen in the photos, there are a couple of small rust holes in the pans, but besides the issues shown, the entire underside is very straight and in good shape.
The only things that the car needs to be a solid driver is to have the master cylinder replaced. Since this would need to be done a person could also just replace the brake lines and bleed the system.
My reason for thinking that the master cylinder is bad is because the brake pedal wont depress all the way and and seems soft. Also, the clutch pedal goes all the way to the floor but will not come back up. The clutch pedal is not engaging the transmission and so my understanding is that no fluid from the reservoir is not making it through the lines to work the brakes or move the clutch.
MANY EXTRA PHOTOS AND VIDEOS CAN BE SHOWN TO POTENTIAL BUYERS UPON REQUEST.
With the exception of the master cylinder, this car is very solid and can be considered a good driver quality car with good paint and great interior at a fair price.
Also, if someone is interested I have many NOS MOWOG items that can be purchased separately. I have engines, ribbed transmissions, engine tins, gauges and lots more available. This items are not included with the purchase price of the vehicle through this auction. separate arrangements will have to be made for these. Pictures available upon request.
