1965 Austin Healey 3000 BJ-8 3000 MKIII PHASE 2 Additional Info:
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very decent BJ-8 Convertible Phase 2 Single Light. This late Grand Tourer was the final variant of the 3000 model and offers power brakes, 150bhp engine, walnut veneered dashboard, softer trailing arm rear suspension, push button door handles, and a luxurious interior with roll ups windows and a snug soft top. This car was purchased locally here in Los Angeles, California and has been in storage, waiting to be restored since the 1980's, when at that time it sustained a small interior fire. As a result, it was assigned a salvage title. The car is very original, complete, and runs well. It's believed to be a low mileage car that really hasn't been messed with. It's still retains it's factory original "BMC-65" Western states delivery plastic tag...The bodywork on this car is extremely good with excellent shrouds, superb panel gaps to the doors and hood, perfect grille fit, and really no evidence of rust. The top side of the car was lightly primed for protection. There is a dent on the trunk lid. The original floors are excellent except for a small hole in the passenger toe board area. There's no evidence of any accident damage and structurally is fantastic. The car's underside is hugely original and completely solid with excellent outriggers, solid trunk floor, inner and outer rockers, bottoms of front fenders, etc. The mainrails look straight and solid (with some typical road dents). The RH roadspring mount has broken loose from the outrigger and needs re-welding. The car's underside would clean up fine with a steam clean, with lots of original blue flaking paint and plenty of protective driveline oils. The engine compartment is very original with it's Healey blue paint. The car is wearing all of it's original body tags including body, VIN, and engine number plate. The engine starts easily on gravity fed fuel, but the carburetors are leaking and need kits. The brake pedal can be pumped up to pressure. The clutch pedal feels good. The fuel pump sounds lazy. The engine sounds great with no smoke or noises and registers an easy 55-65 psi of oil pressure. I'm sure with a bit more work it would be back driving in no time. The car's interior needs a retrim but has all of the important pieces except an armrest (available). There are some pictured items that go with the car.Overall, a scarce opportunity to purchase a very well preserved and solid BJ-8 Phase 2 Convertible. This car has been off the road since the 1980's and has lived all of it's life here in a dry climate. It's runs well and now is ready for an easy cosmetic restoration.**PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE AD LISTING PAGE TO VIEW A COMPLETE SET OF DETAILED PHOTOS OF THE VEHICLE**Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. The description above is general in nature and not to be solely relied upon by buyer.
