1959 Austin Healey 100-6 Additional Info:

No trailer queen, this two seat Big Healey is the well maintained quintessential driver ! This 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN6 has been owned by 3 successive Healey Club members, with more than 30 years of enthusiast history behind it. Finished in Old English White with Dark Navy side panels, it carries the honest patina of a well-loved driver but has been mechanically maintained and now renewed and upgraded throughout to deliver reliable, confidence-inspiring touring performance, rather than concours fragility. Unlike newly restored cars built from distressed shells, this rust free car is steeped with originality and soul.

The car was originally delivered to the U.S. and has been continuously cared for by knowledgeable Healey Club members for over 30 years, documented through decades of club involvement, and maintenance receipts. All VIN, body and engine block numbers match the included British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate. The goal for this well tuned Big Healey was never a museum-grade restoration—it was to keep a solid, rust-free, correct BN6 on the road and make it the best-sorted driver one could own.

Since 2023, every system has been gone through with an eye toward safety, reliability, and drivability. Major recent work includes a complete braking system rebuild with new hydraulics and stainless-steel hoses, new wheel bearings, front wheel splines, complete valve job, new rocker arm assembly, rebuilt carburetors with new throttle shafts, rebuilt throttle linkage, Pertronix electronic ignition, new motor mounts, Wizard aluminum radiator, new freeze plugs, new Texas Kooler fan, new electronic fuel pump, and new fuel gauge sender. These upgrades improve cooling and fuel reliability for modern driving. The Toyota W58 5-speed (Smitty conversion) shifts like butter and transforms the car for both around town, and on longer trips, offering relaxed cruising and crisp, modern shifts without sacrificing the car’s original character. Kingpins haver been rebuilt, hydraulic shocks serviced, and new urethane suspension and sway bar bushings have been installed throughout, so the car handles tight and super responsively.

Electrical updates include a fuse upgrade to a 7 block fuse terminal, super bright LED turn signal and brake lights, new steering wiring harness and rebuilt Trafficator, new turn signal relay, high-output horn, dedicated under dash negative ground bus bar for superior grounding, rebuilt gauges, USB/USBC charging receptacle, custom LED under dash lighting, and hardwired trickle charger to keep the new battery fully topped off during storage.

New premium grade custom dark blue carpet fabricated by AH Spares, with extra set of matching floor mats. Seats appear to be original leather, (the packet of 25 years of service records indicate they were re-dyed in 2017). The blue leather is like a well worn baseball glove and is supple and soft, unlike a modern day Moss seat kit. Seating foam has been upgraded with contoured memory foam to maximize driver comfort. The interior is immaculate, retains the correct BN6 cockpit layout, and presents with originality, not restoration. The sale includes the paint matched SmoothLine fiberglass hardtop, blue soft top with clear window, vintage blue tonneau cover with original Prym Tenax fasteners, luggage rack, and side mirrors. Side curtains have been refurbished with new rubber seals and fresh plexiglass panels. Also included is a set of original 48 spoke wire rims paint matched to the car.

The car currently rides on new Dayton 72-spoke chrome wire wheels (sealed for tubeless) and 195/65 Pirelli P4 radial tires.

Included are original Factory Service Manual, original Driver’s handbook, Haynes manual, Rodger Moment Restoration Guide, Norman Nock Tech Talk, and service receipts that date back 25 years.

Importantly, this car has never required or undergone major rust repair. The underside, outriggers, and chassis rails remain solid, straight, and honest, reflecting decades of responsible stewardship within the Healey community. It presents today as a beautifully aged, period-correct driver—not over-restored, not cosmetically sterilized—just a proper Healey with its history intact and its mechanical life renewed. It clearly has had a repaint (same colors) in its history, though timeline unknown. The car presents amazingly well, but on close inspection does have small cracks near tail lights, a few chips on door edges, and imperfections in the front right fender. Having completed body-off concours restorations in the past, I specifically sought a Healey that could be driven without hesitation, enjoyed on back roads, and taken on long-distance club tours. This BN6 fit the bill perfectly. The next owner will receive a car with real history, sorted mechanicals, and the feel of a true two-seat Big Healey—ready for the open road, not the trailer. If you’re looking for a true driver, that’s been totally sorted, you will not find one better than this.

Photos note: the car is pictured both with and without front bumper and rear luggage rack installed. Car will be delivered with these fully installed.

A note on the mileage of 37,800:

Though I cannot possibly prove it, I believe that the 38k on the odometer could in face be accurate. The service records dating back to the early 2000's list the mileage at 27k at that point in time. I've been working on these cars since I was a teenager, and I know what 100k miles looks like on a car... from wear in the seats, to the door hinges, to the condition of the wiring harness... and all these things point to this being a low mileage car.
