The engine pictured is the .040 over 948 engine from my Series One Lotus Seven/
This is the ex Karl Flessa built race engine, and has numerous modifications includingStd/Std steel billet crank and strapped center maincap...........Hepolite cast Flat Top pistons that are custom machined..... lightened, and balanced, …..British Masters rods,... ISKY pushrods and lifters, and an AE648 camshaft. The cam has two additional bearings added to the block.. . the 12g206 head is ported and polished and milled .130. … The flywheel has been lightened to12 pound 6oz so the engine would increase rpm's quicker ...MGB Oil COOLER and spin-on oil filter.... PERTONIX, pointless electronic ignition... the special high lift alloy rocker cover is dual vented to reduce crankcase pressure. ... the entire assembly has been balanced. ...
This engine was used in my Lotus 7 Series On, and was raced in one Vintage race event since building.. It has a great power band from 3500 to 7000 and ran a 7500 rpm redline at Hallet..it idles nicely, is not finicky, and is streetable using less spark advance.. In the Lotus 7, it has a couple hundred miles running local country roads. It is complete as shown, including the complete clutch assembly, and carb assembly. The are are no headers, as they were specific to the Lotus 7 and went with the car.
After removing from my Lotus 7, the engine was again run on the test stand. A set of roller rockers was purchased, and the conversion to roller rockers was completed.. Currently, some carb mods have begun, and it will be run again after they are complete, so it ships ready to install, other than the headers, and includes correct clutch throw-out bearing ...and special spark coil for the Pertronix ignition.
During the Winter, we improved the valve train, and converted it to new custom roller rockers.
If you do not have electric radiator fan, we will include 2 OEM fan blades..
