As the agreement between Austin (now owned by British Leyland) and Healey was coming to an end, the Mk IV Sprite received small updates to make the Sprite and its badge-engineered sibling, the MG Midget, easier and cheaper to build. After 1969, the Sprite was no longer available in the US, and production would wrap up in 1971.
