1973 Austin Healey Sprite Additional Info:
MG Midget .Austin Healey bugeye Sprite fiberglass bonnet just took to the mountains and back rode good ran fine, only thing wrong with it is it has a rear main seal leak because mg didn’t put a rear main seal, they make a after market kit, cost 300, or I heard you can take the caps off wrap the crank with saran wrap and fill caps with jb weld, put the caps back on and let dry, pull Saran off bolt back up. I replaced the throw out bearing if you want to call it a bearing, it’s a brake disk, so when you pull up to a red light, put it in neutral, if not your just smoking the bearing.List of new partsThrow out bearingAlternatorStarterHeaderWebber carbIntakeBrake masterClutch masterFuel pumpCarpetDash coverSteering wheelNew topHead restGas tankCap wiresElectronic ignitionMini light wheelsRebuilt calipersEbc green padsPaint about a year old
I’m sure there more, I Fiberglass conduit into the bonnet to make it more rigid, black out all the Crom, they call this creation a spridgit, the best of both worlds, a newer body and bigger engine and a lot better transmission with everybody favorite the bug eye bonnet, I replaced the 14 inch steering wheel with a 12 inch in get in it, I’m 5”8 180 pounds and I have to grab my knee and pull it to my chest to get in, once in there plenty of room, that’s were the bug eye beats the midget, midget put that box behind the seats so you can’t scoot the seat back, I got it from a friend who had it in his garage for 20 years, no rust, no where. I’m 58 and I can pull the motor in a hour so real easy to work on, there is air in the clutch line, don’t have nobody to pump the clutch, transmission don’t grind going in any gear, if your going down a hill and let the motor slow you down it will smoke, but I think all mg do that even with new valve seal, that’s it, the reason I’m selling is I got a twin turbo bmw to match my first car, 1972 bmw 2002, and I want it in the garage, as is no Warranty implied
