1963 Austin Healey 3000 New Convertible Top Additional Info:
I am a private seller offering a car that I have lovingly restored over the past 30 years. I am not normally on ebay, which is why I have such a low feedback number. I am a real person offering a real car and would love for you to call me at eight oh five 570 5310 or come drive it before bidding on the listing. Contact me to set this up, I am available every day except for Saturday 10/5.
This is a tight, mechanically sound, weekend driver: fun, responsive and reliable. Although not a “concourse” car, very nearly so.I bought this “big six” (BJ7) in the mid-eighties from the second owner, an Arizona car. The speedometer wasn’t functional but I estimated it had around 90k miles on it. The motor and drive train were sound but the overdrive didn’t work and the body and electrics were somewhat neglected. I slowly worked on cleaning it up over the years and have put about 3000 miles on it. I bought it for my wife but she never really drove it. Below are the things I have done together with the pluses and minuses.
N/O= “not original”

• Simple spare-tire hold down (N/O)
• Carpeted/hinged jack compartment
Minuses:
Modifications make it “non-stock"
Visual:
• New paint is mostly “concourse” quality with some minor flaws: A+ to B+
• Chrome is some new, some not: also A+ to B+
• Bodywork has a few slight imperfections
• Original windscreen has a small corner delamination
• Passenger side roll up window has a ½” deep abrasion
• Brand new rear window has slight clouding and minor dimples
Mechanical:
• Gear box still a bit worn, especially 1st/2nd cluster (double clutching required)
• Clutch is a “long throw”: difficult for short person (original design issue)
• No battery shut off switch
• Exhaust is loud when “backing down”
This well loved classic is a clean, sound, reliable driver; no tricks, no hidden flaws. I have babied it for many years and now it is time to pass her on to a new loving owner.
