1958 Austin Healey 100-6 Additional Info:

This Austin Healey 100-6 was purchased by my father in the early 70's in Seattle. It had been in a wreck and had been repaired by the previous owner. The original engine was replaced with the 6 cylinder engine normally found in the 3000. There was also some substandard body work done with bondo and the gas tank leaked. My father patched the gas tank and did some repairs and maintenance. He drove it for many years and always parked in his garage. In 1995 he moved it to a car port to make room in his garage. On 12/16/1996 I purchased it from him and hauled it to Bakersfield California. I put a few thousand dollars into it. I installed an upgraded oil filtration kit and a new gas tank among other items. Without the skills or the money for a full restoration I lost interest. I stored it for many years hoping that one day I could afford to have it restored. Unfortunately, that day never came. In it's current condition it is not operational. None of the hydraulics are operational. The last time the engine ran was in 2003. It is complete but is in need of a complete restoration.

After doing some additional research online, I'm not sure whether the engine is from a 100-6 or a 3000. Since they both came with a 6 cylinder engine. I do know that after the car was repaired by the previous owner the original grill badge was replaced with a 3000 badge. I later purchased a 100-6 badge to make the grill correct. If anyone needs more info on the engine, let me know.

I also have the sidecurtains. However, the plexiglass is in bad shape.

I have the original soft top frame. When the frame was in the vehicle the front of the frame was held in place with wooden blocks. This didn't look original to me. So it may be missing the pieces that attach the front of the frame to the body.
