1966 Austin Healey Sprite Additional Info:
I am ready to sell my Sprite after owning it for almost 10 years. I meticulously went through the entire car to bring it to this level. The entire car was taken apart and each panel gone over for many many hours before I painted it. The body has been modified by removing any provisions for the soft top, adding the rear fender flairs, removing the roll up and vent windows in the doors, removing the door lock cylinders, removing all the trim and bumpers. This gives the car a very clean and sleek look. I also cut the windshield posts about 2 inches to help with the overall look, the windshield still blocks the wind when driving. The rear wheels have been widened about 2 inches. The interior is completely custom. The seats are from a Porsche 914 with the back rest cut down and modified to make low back buckets, you sit very low in the car. The dash is hand made from mahogany plywood with a Speed Hut gauge set and Speed Hut GPS speedometer. The wiring harness is all new and 12V negative ground with fuse box located under the drivers side of the dash. The car has an alternator and electronic ignition. The engine is a completely rebuilt 1098cc with .040" over pistons. The cylinder head has been shaved about .050" to increase the compression ration to an estimated 10:1. The camshaft is a Swiftune SW5 - 07 (http://www.swiftune.com/Product/448/swiftune-sw507-billet-camshaft-duplex-kit.aspx) The car pulls very well in all 4 gears. The transmission is the original 4 speed Ribcase gear box, it shifts fine and has no abnormal noises. The gear box was clean and everything looked fine and works well, so it was not rebuilt ( may have been rebuilt by previous owner)
I have owned the car since 2008 and finished the restoration in Dec 2011. This was a labor of love, I built the car for myself with the utmost attention to detail and craftsmanship. The odometer shows 1,525 miles since the restoration, I have enjoyedthose miles very much!
