1971 Audi 100 LS Additional Info:
I bought this 1971 Audi 100 LS a dozen years ago, for a fun project, and while it seems very fun, for whatever reason I have barely touched it. Finally decided it needs somebody to give it some attention! It's pretty good, I just want to be completely up-front with any issues it might have:
Vinyl top in perfect condition, no cracks - it has lived in my heated garage all these years.New non-ethanol gas in it.Starts and runs if I jump it, moves around the driveway under it's own power.Smokes, burning oil, I'm thinking rings.Exhaust is loud, rust hole probably, maybe a couple.Looks like the driveshaft boots are falling apart, probably from age. Haven't driven it, so hopefully the joints are all good. (This is FWD, with a longitudinal engine)One of the brakes is pretty much locked up. I think it's one of the back ones. You can definitely feel it when you are moving it around the driveway. Some rust starting underneath...it is unibody and the area in question is right behind the rockers.Interior is faded but intact, except for the top of the rear seat where sun would come in the rear window I suppose. But it has a sweet center armrest in the back!Oh, by the way, since it's the LS the rear seats have nice legroom.Air conditioning! Clicks on, you can hear the load on the engine, but I don't feel any cold air - presumably low on Freon.Original Blaupunkt one-speaker AM radio, works. Some dings in the chrome trim along the belt line, but all there and in place. All four hub caps (yay!)Surface rust showing through the paint in the passenger rear quarter.A few nicks / scrapes / gouges in the paint in a few spots.A door and one of the front fenders has been repainted, looks correct but it isn't quite as faded as the rest.Driver's side fender by the headlight has a rust hole that somebody filled with spray foam? (clever)Hood won't stay up by itself.Tires in good shape, not vintage, though - modern tires.
I would certainly say that if you were to come get this car, you are not going to want to drive it home - you are going to want to trailer it. Located in Rochester, MN.
Comes with a large assortment of parts, including a speedo/gauge cluster, rear taillight, tie-rod ends, a gasket kit, looks like some wiring. Also included - original "Schmelz Porsche Audi St. Paul" license ring, still in business! Also, in the little pocket in the dash, on the driver's side, a plastic square smaller than a matchbox car, that on closer inspection is an emergency poncho for your hair...making you believe that, yes, in fact, this car belonged to the little old lady that only drove it to church on Sundays. I would never, ever, remove that from the car.
