Additional Info:

Hello everyone, for sale is myBarn Find 1973 AMC Javelin AMX – Factory Z-Code 401, M-Code 4-Speed Go-Pack Project – Olympic Blue Survivor w/ Original A/C, Factory Cowl Induction, Full Sheet Metal & Two Virgin / Never Bored Over 401 Engines. Optional 15" Rallye Wheels.

Description:

Offered for sale is an incredibly rare, highly sought-after 1973 American Motors Javelin AMX. This is a true, unmolested "survivor" project car that has remained unrestored and largely untouched. It retains its rare factory high-performance pedigree, excellent structural framework, and a striking original color combination.

This is a true barn find car and is not in running condition as it has been sitting for decades. I towed it from the barn to my house a few years ago. It has been in my garage or covered since.

Rarity (VIN: A3M798Z249521):

  • Z-Code: Factory 401 cu in V-8 (1 of only 1,420 AMXs built for 1973)
  • M-Code: Factory 4-Speed Manual Transmission with floor shift
  • Factory Functional Cowl Induction Hood
  • Paint Code E2: Olympic Blue Metallic
  • Trim Code 348S: White Perforated Uganda Vinyl Bucket Seats

Current Setup & Intact Factory Options:
The car currently has a 360 cu in 2-barrel V-8 sitting in the engine bay. Crucially, the car has not been stripped. The highly desirable factory 4-speed manual transmission is still intact, along with the original factory air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes systems completely in place, although the air conditioning, power steering and power brakes are in unknown condition. Cowl induction hood is still there. It has the 15" wheels as part of the Go-Pack, and the included engines and extra parts should get the car 95% back to factory stock.

Condition & Body (Sheet Metal Included):
The car is an honest, open-book project. The single best asset here is the unibody structure: the frame rails are solid, straight, and in excellent condition.

As typical for these Javelins, there is rust in the lower rear quarters and the floorboards. To give the next owner a massive head start and eliminate the need to hunt down sheet metal, this sale includes both the brand-new high-quality rear quarter repair panels (left and right) AND the replacement floor panels and rocker panels. The original exterior sheet metal has been left uncut so you or your fabricator can fit the new panels perfectly.

Engines & Parts Included In Sale:
This sale includes a massive stockpile of highly valuable, hard-to-find AMC components to return this car to its factory 401 glory:

  • The Matching-Numbers 401 Block: An original, factory-stamped magnafluxed virgin 401 blockserial number / part number will match this car, with factory connecting rods.
  • A Second Complete 401 Engine: One additional, complete magnafluxed and dipped virgin 1975 401 V-8 engine (currently disassembled, minus pistons) featuring heavy-duty forged connecting rods. Parts are coated for protection against rust.
  • Hard-to-Find Interior Components: A genuine 1973 Javelin center console complete with the lid, paired with a brand-new shifter surround insert.
  • Numerous Extra Parts: A substantial collection of extra spares, trim, and mechanical components as documented in the listing photos.

Summary:
This is the holy grail poster car configuration for the 1973 AMX, backed by enough rare engine inventory, original intact options, and replacement sheet metal to make this a highly rewarding restoration - probably in the $50,000 range or higher if done correctly. If you are looking for an ultra-rare 401 4-speed manual muscle car to bring back to its jaw-dropping factory Olympic Blue over White scheme, this package is the ultimate canvas.

Please note the $500.00 deposit is required upon purchase and is non-refundable. Make sure you can pick up the car and that you have help to load the engines and parts into a truck. A U-Haul truck with a car dolly to tow the car may be best.
