Offered for sale is my modified 1974 AMC Javelin, finished in Ford Deep Wine Metallic with satin-black accents over a black vinyl interior.
This is a standard Javelin fitted with AMX-style features; it is not represented as a factory Javelin AMX. It is powered by a non-original AMC 401-cubic-inch V8 paired with a GM 700R4 four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The drivetrain combination provides strong performance while retaining comfortable highway cruising.
The 401 is equipped with an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, Holley 750-cfm four-barrel carburetor, electronic ignition, tubular headers and dual exhaust. Additional equipment includes a 2,500-rpm stall converter, Line-Loc and 3.73:1 rear gearing.
Before resealing, a professional cylinder-compression test was completed by Bluenose Automotive Specialty on November 12, 2025.
The engine and transmission were subsequently removed and comprehensively resealed. A new chrome one-wire alternator was installed, eliminating the external voltage regulator.
The front suspension and steering have been comprehensively rebuilt with new upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, idler arm and pitman arm. The car is equipped with power steering and power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes.
During the recent cosmetic refurbishment, the body was repainted Ford Deep Wine Metallic over a black base. Previous bubbling behind the rear wheels and a dent in the roof were repaired during this work. Exterior trim was powder-coated satin black, and the bumpers were wrapped in satin black.
The paint has an attractive colour and shine but would benefit from professional wet sanding and polishing to achieve its best possible finish. Photographs are provided to accurately represent its current condition.
The exterior has been intentionally de-badged for a clean, understated appearance. Replacement 401 and Javelin emblems have been custom 3D-printed and finished in satin black. These will be included with the car should the new owner wish to install them. The chrome badging removed from the vehicle and used as the reference for the reproduction pieces will also accompany the sale. No holes have been drilled for the satin-black emblems, leaving the final placement and installation to the new owner.
The car rides on AMC 15-inch rally wheels with BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires measuring 235/60R15 in front and 245/60R15 at the rear.
The black vinyl interior retains a largely original appearance and features front bucket seats and a rear bench. The upholstery has no significant rips or tears. Auxiliary gauges have been added beneath the dashboard. The tachometer and clock operate. The original push-button radio is currently inoperative.
The five-digit odometer indicates approximately 62,000 miles; true accumulated mileage is unknown.
