1964 AMC Rambler Sedan Additional Info:
1964 Rambler American 330
I bought this car because I wanted something different to take to cruise nights and car shows after selling my 32 Ford 5 window and have been amazed at the response the little car has generated at every event I attended. I drove the car with the stock drive train, (which was a 90 horse flathead and automatic transmission) until this spring when I got the LS Swap bug. Gone is the flathead 6 and in its place is a 6.0 Liter LQ4.All of the following were installed new before dropping the 6.0 liter and 4L60E into the custom motor and transmission mounts.Fel Pro gaskets, engine seals, coils, plugs, plug wires, oil pressure sensor, water temp sensor, fuel lines, water pump, pulleys, carbon fiber coil covers, polished air intake with K&N air filter, Dirty Dingo alternator bracket, water pump spacer kit, and steam tube, belt, Jegs LS Swap oil pan, Melling oil pump and pick up tube, LS6 intake with new fuel injectors, transmission seal and filters, breathers, filters, and many more pieces to numerous too mention. If a part was needed it was bought new. I have receipts totaling over $6000 for the engine and transmission swap. The computer and wiring are Holley Terminator X Max which also controls the 4L60E transmission. The LCD is programmed and also is my dash with MPH, RPM, oil pressure, water temp, air/fuel ratio, gear, manifold air temp, battery volts, and fan speed being displayed. I also installed a Holley Sniper electric in tank fuel pump with the C5 Corvette fuel regulator / filter assembly and ran Earls Vapor Guard hose from the tank to the engine. The Optima battery has been relocated to the trunk and wires run to a stock GM power terminal mounted by the firewall. The entire installation of the engine and components looks stock and is laid out for maintenance or future additions if needed.
The car sounds, runs, and drives great and gets amazing MPG. The LQ4 is a large upgrade in power over the flathead. I drove the car all over the Midwest attending car shows and cruise nights all summer with no problems at all. Runs cool even in heavy traffic thanks to a big aluminum radiator from Speedway Motors and a ECM controlled electric Spal fan..The car has a full Air Ride Technologies air ride system that is controlled by the panel mounted under the dash. The system is designed to allow for the car to be driven if a major problem occurs and you lose all air in the system. The air tank, compressor, valves, and controls are mounted in the trunk. The car rides very nice going down the road and when you get to the show dump the air and put the frame on the ground. The car might be one of the straightest and cleanest 64 Ramblers in the country. The Rambler was a low mile original when the transformation started. The chrome, trim, bumpers, mirrors, and badges look like they are new and the body is arrow straight. The car is painted in the stock color of Bengal Ivory and looks amazing. I have had many people comment that they have never seen a Rambler this straight. You truly have to see it in person to understand how clean and straight this car is.The interior is also stock with the split bench seat that will fully recline to a flat position so you can take a nap at the cruise night. I have added an AM/FM/ blue tooth receiver in the glove box because I didn’t want to cut the stock dash. I also installed two 3 ½ inch speakers in the stock speaker dash location and two Custom Autosound 100 amp speakers under the seats. The set up works great and is hidden from view. All can be controlled by a remote. The seats, headliner, knobs, cranks, dash, gauges, carpet, belts, and trim are all in amazing condition. The Holley ECM is mounted under the glove box so the data display lights are visible and the display screen is mounted on top of the steering column for easy reading and tuning if needed. The car rides on 18 X 7 Billet Specialties Vintec wheels that are mounted on Yokohama 205/40ZR18 speed rated tires. A friend of mine added the red stripe to the tires and it looks amazing and gets comments all of the timeThe car sounds amazing thanks to a full dual exhaust from the Hooker cast headers to the Flowmaster muffler. You can do whatever you want with the car, it performs great and has proven itself to be very reliable . No leaks or drips anywhere on the car. The car is a driver but is clean and tidy on the bottom side. The car has won numerous awards at national and local events including 3 awards at Goodguys shows. The car has been featured in Rod and Custom and Fuel Curve magazines as well as appearing in Street Rodder magazine, Crusin Times magazine, and many Goodguys Gazettes. The Rambler is very well liked and will be the center of attention whenever it pulls into a show or cruise night.
I love the car but I am ready for a new toy to play with. I will entertain all trades and offers for the Rambler. Feel free to call or text at (641)891-5489 or email me with any questions. I have many more pictures of the car and will answer any and all questions in a timely manner. The car is used and is being sold by a private party so it does NOT have any warranty written or implied. I have owned numerous cars in my lifetime and this Rambler might be the most popular car I have ever driven. Everyone loves the car and has a Rambler story to tell you when they see it. Don’t get the car if you don’t like to talk too people because it will get total strangers to strike up a conversation with you.
I have driven the car all summer after the drive train swap and it has proven to be a very good driver and very road worthy. Before the swap I drove the car with the stock drive train and it also was a very dependable driver. I also have the original motor and transmission available if someone wants to do a package deal. With all of the stock parts included.I am ready to move onto another toy so please have all funds ready and the approval of the boss before dealing so this experience is good for the buyer and the seller. I have sold many high quality vehicles and have not had anyone disappointed.I am located in Knoxville, Iowa and welcome any and all interested parties to come and look at the car in person or send someone out to inspect the car on your behalf. If you are unable to inspect the car personally I can send additional pictures and information out on the car. Feel free to email or call about anything on the car. I want the prospective buyers to have all of the information they need.I would like a $500 non refundable deposit in the form of cash or pay pal within 48 hours of making a deal with the remaining funds within 7 business days in the form of a wire transfer, cashiers check, or cash in person.I have a clean and clear Iowa title and registration for the car and they along with the car will be released when the funds have cleared my bank. The cost of transporting the car to its new home is the responsibility of the new owner but I can assist in the arranging the transport and the car can be stored at my location until pickup.
Thanks again for looking at my Rambler and considering it for your collection.
