1961 AMC Rambler Classic Super Additional Info:
Private seller. This is being sold at No Reserve.
This 1961 Rambler Classic Super is a great candidate for restoration, as it is mostly complete. As far as I know everything is original on it. The drivetrain is an inline 6 (I believe it is all aluminum in the 1961 Super), and three-speed manual, column shift.
It's missing a headlight bezel, has a broken taillight lens, and the windshield is cracked. There may be a few other minor things, but as you can see, it's pretty much complete. Some dents on the bumpers, that otherwise look good. Perhaps they can be pulled out.
Paint looks original, too. Just surface rust on the top, and other spots here and there. The original green would look great on it, restored. Look at that trunk!
It's been sitting for probably 9-10 years. When I purchased it years ago, it needed a clutch, but ran. You'll want to flush the tank and have fresh gas before trying to crank it, though. So you will need a trailer to pick it up.
The odometer says 68,246. The previous owner said he thought it was accurate, but I have no idea. We do have a clean title for it.
Interior needs restoration, like the rest of the car, but that bench back seat looks good, headliner maybe could be cleaned and kept. Blankets were on the seats when we purchased it, so I'm assuming these will need to be reupholstered. Front carpet/padding is rough, but floorboards are fine.
The tires still hold air, so it can be pushed into the street for easy access. You'll need to contact me to make arrangements for pickup in a mountain town in Colorado, two hours west of Denver. Arrangements for pickup need to be finalized within five days of the winning bid, and the car picked up by evening of Sunday, Sept. 1.
** The dealer service and parts manuals in the last pictures ARE NOT included, but are available. We can negotiate. With the manuals and the car, you should have everything you need to start your restoration. If the purchase price reaches $2,000 (a fair price), I'll include them. These did not come with the car. I acquired them separately.
Great car, and a great project. What you see is what you get. This car is sold as is, with no warranty inferred or implied. I tried my best to represent it accurately - it is a 57 year-old car.
If you need clarification, or more info, please ask me before bidding. The sale is final. $500 deposit required via Paypal within 48 hrs. of the winning bid.
It is for sale locally, and I retain the right to pull the listing.
A link to download a video file (Rambler Walkaround.mp4) can be sent to active bidders, upon request. It's nothing fancy, but you can hear me closing doors to let you know the seals are still pretty tight.
Thank you for looking, folks. Not a lot out of these out there. This would be a great restoration.
Take care.
