Up for your consideration is this 1981 AMC Concord. Pleasereview all pictures carefully.I'm selling this for my Dad, whose name is on the title. It has the 258 AMC Inline (predecessor to the modern Chrysler/Jeep Inline 6) and an automatic transmission (I believe an A904 3 speed).
The car runs and drives great. It could use some carburetor adjustments, as it can be difficult to start if its been sitting for a while. But otherwise, its drives nicely and is ready for the road. It has a nice power/torque to weight ratio, which makes for a "peppy" drive.
As I recall, I've installed new front coil springs and serviced the front brakes, putting in new hoses and calipers. I've also changed the distributor cap/rotor, wires and spark plugs. As I recall it has electronic ignition, so no points.
The car has some cool original paperwork from 1981, including the window sticker (see pictures).
The factory fuel lines were replaced with rubber lines front to back. The exhaust is ok, and not loud or in danger of falling, but I would personally replace it in the long run.
The car came equipped with A/C, but theprevious owner removed the compressor and cut the lines for some reason. The A/C compressor bracket isin the trunk of the car. A homemade alternator mount was put on the engine, but it could be done better.
It has had some amateur bodywork done behind the rear driver wheel (see picture). The floor could use some repair work and patch panelsnear the rockers, but you wouldn't be aware of it unless you look underneath.
The car sits low in the rear. Again, the front springs are brand new, and it lifted the front up a bit in relation to the rear. It has some lift support leaves added to the factory leaf springs, but I would personally remove them, and look into maybe re-arching the rear leaf springs, fabricating lift blocks or longer shackles, air lift bags, air shocks, etc. (The blocks might be the most practical/easiest approach).
There is a crack in the dash panel near the drivers door (see picture). The radio bezel/trim panel has been painted a color that doesn't perfectly match the rest (see picture).
The car has winter tiresmounted, withgood tread. They are in good, roadworthy shape.
I've done my best to describe this car as accurately and honestlyas possible. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to come out and look the car over. The car is roadworthy and has been driven all over town, but if you but it andplan on driving it some distance, you shouldbe smart about itand bring some basic tools and mechanical skills. That being said, I certainly would not expect the car to break down.
