1968 AMC Rambler American 440 Wagon for sale. Driven by a rebuilt AMC 258 4.2L inline 6 cylinder engine with an automatic 3 speed transmission. This Rambler has remained very clean sporting its original code 72A "Frost White" paint with original blue vinyl and leather interior. Car has only 113,000 miles driven on it. This Rambler has all its original trim in good shape and not missing a single piece on the interior and exterior. Has it's original California black plates and has stayed in southern California it's whole life. Some new parts include a new alternator, v-belt, spark plugs and wires, all 4 tires are brand new spare tire in good shape, fuel filter, oil and oil filter changed less than 1,000 miles with zinc additive. The AMC 258 starts up right away even on cold mornings and doesn't overheat even driving on hotter days with the use of a 2 row aluminum radiator keeps this Rambler driving cool. The AMC 258, which came from a 1973 AMC Hornet, is linked to a three speed automatic transmission that shifts smooth and effortlessly. The car has zero cancer rust, no holes or bubbles, everything from the engine bay to the floor pans and back are completely solid and rust free. Car has manual steering with manual drum brakes that both work very nicely. Car comes with a front disc brake conversion kit that includes all parts to complete the conversion including a brake booster. All electrical components work including lights and factory original AM radio with the exception of the dome light, turn signals stopped working recently. Windshield wipers are vacuum operated but are functional. Interior is in fantastic original shape. The front 60/40 split bench seat is intact with one minor rip that was stitched together for a strong but temporary fix. The back seats (that can fold down for extra cargo space) has no rips and has all seat belts. Headliner in exceptional shape, no rips, tears or drooping. Dashboard has zero cracks and looks excellent. All factory gauges including fuel and temperature are in working order. Gauge lights can be made brighter and dimmer through factory light switch. In all this Rambler is in an excellent, original and complete example of a late 60's AMC that drives, shifts and handles fantastically. Side note: Car will come with original cigarette lighter in place of the USB plug on right side of steering wheel, lighter does work!
