Yes, you are looking at the rare single-year style 1970 AMC Javelin SST. But if that wasn't tantalizing enough, this one is in its correct glossy shade of red, upgraded to a 401 V8, and is available at price you can't touch most other muscle cars.AMC always did things a little differently, and for those who pay attention, the rewards can be huge. For example, they gave the Javelin a facelift in 1970 that is exclusive to this model year. That makes a genuine SST like this pretty darn rare (only about 19,700 produced.) But the coupe's desirability goes beyond just rarity. The original shade of Matador Red looks nice with plenty of gloss and shine for the show field. The brightwork looks excellent, and the full-width rear taillight section is a cool piece not often seen in the '70s. It also has all the right aggressive touches from the hood scoops up front to the wide spoiler in the rear. Plus, the factory Mag wheels are always a nice touch. Make sure you take a long look at this one. It has the correct upgrades for the even rarer Mark Donohue edition (only 2,501 were produced,) and the code 79 on the included build sheet backs this up. That said, it cannot be 100% guaranteed whether this car is a real Mark Donohue edition or not. It's hard not to fall in love with a pure red interior. That means the bucket seats, carpets, and door panels all nicely coordinate with the exterior color. But AMC wanted to get attention, so there was wood paneling on the dashboard and center console. The overall effect is powerful luxury in the '70s, and today the well-preserved interior represents something cool that not many people have seen. There are some nice upgrades like the AM/FM/CD stereo and Grant three-spoke sports steering wheels, but you'll still feel pretty retro cool driving this one. After all, watching the large original speedo and tach needles do their dance is always something that will get your muscle car heart racing. The other piece that will really get your blood flowing and smile widen is the upgraded 401 cubic-inch V8. AMC would introduce the larger motor the following year, but this rare sports car couldn't resist the added displacement... and it didn't stop just there. Besides looking great with plenty of brightwork and fresh wires & hoses, this one has plenty of extra performance, too. It includes a Weber four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock aluminum intake, K&N air filter on the ram induction, and Hedman ceramic coated headers. The motor fires up without hesitation, and you get a serious growl out of the dual exhaust with H-pipe construction. But besides being a street-eating muscle car, AMC made sure the Javelin could be an everyday cruiser, too. That's why this one has a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc brakes. This is the car that lets you be the unique entry at just about every car show, and you even get to show off the factory buildsheet, maintenance records, restoration receipts, and photos to make sure the judges are truly impressed. This Javelin is rare, fun, and interesting, which is why we know it won't stay with us long at such a value price. Call today!!!
