1968 AMC AMX Additional Info:
We call him purple haze.Dash number is 4434. This action style auction is for a 1971 promo type amx clone like dick Teages had built to extend the 2 seater like 1968-1970 threw the 1971 year but instead the 71 and up became 4 seat javelins with amx packages and were a foot longer.
Continued from above description. The paint i would say is a # 8-9 and it has a very small area were it is bubbling up on the drivers side deck lid and the passenger side door body work could have been better and the also p/s quarter because it is fiberglass has some imperfections in it. The radiator top cross frame had been modified to make it removable for easier engine installation. The cross member also has been modified for easy in and out with large oil pan.
Although it has a 69 dash instead of a 68 the numbers on dash and top passenger front shock tower all match the title.I have posted most but not all the vin numbers so you can tell it is a real 390 auto car but i don't post total vins on the net. Don't call and ask me what the rest are please. If you purchase the car i will give it to you asap. If your not the new buyer it is none of your business unless the new buyer wants to tell you .
It has some shekels on back that need to be cut off because they look like ?????.
It has a tilt column but has been modified for quick release steering wheel and has no wiring in for turn signals . This car would NOT pass DMV until you wire it for lights etc. I don't see any harness just enough for switches to run engine as race car would have. Before i got it it had a nasty 401 with 727 trans but the previous owner wanted them.
If you would like you can bolt on the correct 1968 front end that you supply and it would be a 1968 390 auto go pac car again and i would think this would be a steal of a price.
I bet you couldn't paint this car for my starting price if you farm it out.
It looks like a newer stripe was painted on the hood over existing pin strip and it does have a name on the trunk. The floors look very nice to me with no need for any patch panels including in the trunk.
I will set aside a 2 hour window to help your shipper load the car. Any additional time needed will be paid in advance at $100.00 for each 2 hour time. It once took 5 time for a previous buyer to get it right and my time is valuable to me am not interested it doing that again for free. It is near the front of my property and easy access for the truck.
It has no ignition key because is has a switch only like a race car . I do have a couple other 68 amxs for sale that are uncompleted and all apart and need totally restored that are almost as much as this car that with you engine and trans could be running over the week end after you receive it. Please ask questions before bidding !!!!! The car is located in Vancouver Wa. 998686.
Please don't call and ask me to end the action early or take less than my starting price that if you bid you might win the action with the opening bid.
Sorry i don,t post full vin numbers on the net do to scammers.
Thank you for looking at this one of a kind car. Garry 360-921-0446.
