West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional and stunning example of this rare ultra low original 32K miles and long family owned 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce (541 VIN) 5 speed manual Convertible in the highly desirable color combination of classic and original Italian 'Racing Green' color exterior paint with a tan canvas soft top and with an also classic gorgeous light tan original seat interior! Obviously always garaged and covered with original color paint and no... rust or accident history whatsoever; indeed this particular example must be seen to be believed and driven to be truly appreciated! Only driven by obviously very meticulous and careful mature drivers since new; this car has been babied all the way!The car has enjoyed a pampered life, it was purchased new in Italy in 1978 by the board chairman of a Fortune 500 Company who drove the car some 1,000 miles locally before returning it to the factory for recalibration and before consequently shipping it to his home in the U.S. The car was then purchased in the year 2005, from it's original owner by only it's second owner, with only 26K original miles and driven home to southern California from the original owner's home in Pebble Beach,CA. The car is completely stock apart from an after market radio and alarm and wooden shift knob, it's original carpet which had faded and was replaced and the headreasts were upholstered at the same time. The original factory color 'Racing Green' paint is in exceptional condition and the car boasts an original and still as new tan seat interior with the whole interior in quite stunning condition throughout! It also boasts its original canvas soft top with a clear rear view window and it's original spare wheel, owners manuals, original import papers from the factory in Italy, all original service records from new and spare keys! The car has always been serviced at Alfa Romeo specialists since new, originally at 'Autohaus, Inc' of Fairborn, Ohio and then later at 'Manarello Import Auto Service' of Palo Alto, CA and 'Tom Gunter's Alfa Etc, Inc' of Sand City, CA and finally for the previous ten years at 'APC', the Alfa Performance Connection, of Orange, CA.The Alfa Romeo Spider (105/115 series) was produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1993. Widely regarded as a design classic, it remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The three first series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese. The last Spider was produced in April 1993, it was also the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo produced before Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was introduced. The Series 2 second generation spider (1970-83) came with a more powerful 1,962cc engine in 1972. Only 4,183 cars were built in 1977. It had a cut off tail referred to known as the 'Kamm Tail' as opposed to the first generations distinctive elongated round 'Boat Tail'. It also had a newly designed grille, door handles and an improved interior trim. The 5 speed manual transmission is one of the finest manual transmissions one can hope to find in terms of feel and spirit in any European sports car and these cars drive as good as they look, they have legendarily good handling and are everything a true sports car should be, never pretentious or ostentatious but always in style! If only every car could age as well as the Spyder, it makes it impossible to ever feel old driving one! This exceptionally well maintained and serviced example drives exactly like such an original low mileage example should and you will surely look long and hard to find a finer example with full service history showing that no expense was ever spared on this particular vehicle's sevice history. This is one particularly fine example of this increasingly desirable and collectible garage kept and rust and accident free 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider Roadster with only some 32K original miles in this very striking color combination and you will look long and hard to find a finer example available anywhere else!
