I purchased this 1967 (Serial number suggest it's a 66') Alfa Duetto in 1986 in running condition. I was told the original owner purchased it in LA and I am the 3rd owner. In 1996 I rolled the car into my shop and stripped it to a bare chassis/ body shell which was Rust free and did a complete ground up restoration, this included striping the car down to bare chassis and restoring every component and painting the car in a red that matched the race cars of theSCCA,New England region, driver, Dave Amon. (He also sent me an original Milano snake for the hood, but it was never used). The car was restored as an "enthusiast" car, of of the period, using parts that would have been available in the late 60's & 70's. The engine was rebuilt as a 1750cc with new Bearings, Seals, Pistons and PerformanceCams and Free Flow Abarth exhaust system. The rear end has an upgraded 1972 differential with limited slip & better brakes than the original 67' rear end (Original complete rear end- axle/ differential/ brake unit is included with the car). The suspension upgrades include; rally springs, stiffer sway bars and Koni shocks, Minilite (Panasport) wheels and Yokohama 195/45ZR15 tires, that are practically new. Interior has a smaller contemporary wood steering wheel and sport mirrors. The original ashtray plastic piece was damaged, so while making a new one, I added a cup holder to match the style of the original plastic unit.
Since cosmetically it was looking a little tired, the car had a cosmetic and mechanicalrefresh in 2015. With New paint, powder coating the wheels, new seat upholstery and factory rubber floor mats, new fuel tank, rebuilt carburetors, serviced brakes, new head light covers and tail light lenses. Also, a new battery. The car starts and runs great and if desired, I'll have my local Alfa specialist give the car a complete tune up and service for the new owner.
The car can be put back to original 1967 stock with original parts, many of which are included with the car. These original parts Include; Original Factory Wheels and 67' Differential /axle, brakes that came with the car, rear Swing arms & shocks, stock Sway bars and originalSteering wheel. I will also include many spare parts (see picture); a set of original OEM rubber trim for convertible top, New convertible top replacement (fabric) (I am missing the top frame), After market vinyl coveredHard top (Needs refinishing), Drive shaft donut & support bushing, Original taillight assemblies, Original headlamp covers (fogged, but can be polished) original and copies of factory service manuals along with an Alfa Ricambi parts manual and catalog.
My wife and I hate to see this car go, (The restoration was finished in time for our wedding) but our life style is not what it used to be and we no longer drive the car as much as we once did and I don't want it to sit outside.
