INTERNATIONAL BUYERS WELCOME! I WILL BE HAPPY TO DO A BUY IT NOW FOR SERIOUS BUYERS. PLEASE CALL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS AT (76O) 8O5-8038. This is not your typical Hot Rod Barn Find. This is an incredibly cool, real deal 1936 Willys steel body Gasser Coupe that had a long history of racing at Famoso and it has always remained in California. The Harris Pools 36 Willys was owned and raced by the same gentleman, Jim Harris, since the late 1960s under the name Gold 'n Rod. He passed away and I got the car from his son that had the car stored in his garage.I have many pictures of it racing I back in the day in it's original form. It was a many time trophy winner at Bakersfield. Unfortunately the trophies were lost in a house fire after he passed, as well as all of the timeslips. According to the son, it won the March Meet in 1977 but I have not been able to verify that. He said the best pass was 142 MPH but could not remember the E.T. Let me state clearly. This is not your typical hacked up race car! It is nice. The Willys has an excellent steel body. The roof has never been chopped or filled. It has steel doors with excellent glass and the windows roll up and down smoothly. It is rust free and in very nice condition. It has a fiberglass tilt front end that has been on it for decades, as well as a lift off glass decklid and old glass rear fenders. It was converted to a street car but really not much was done to alterthe character of the carexcept for working lights, getting it registered, adding full exhaust, and removing the wheelie bars/parachute. It now runs a healthy 440 and an automatic transmission. It still retains the original chromed Pontiac rearend and original gas tank. It has front disc brakes. The Willys runs and drives well now, but it certainly deserves to be returned to as-raced condition. It has current CA tags. The paint was done in the 60s and has awesome patina that cannot be replicated. I would never even consider re-painting it. It is sort of atangerine with heavy metal flake and cool pinstriping. You can still see the outlines of the Gold n' Rod and Harris Pools logos on the doors and trunk. If you wanted to restore it to race condition, they can easily be used for already in place stencils to do them in heavy Gold flake. I love it. Even the front end has bubbling from the heat of the original headers. It looks beyond cool and it is all a part of this Willys long story. I am not changing it! The interior is almost like new and untouched. It still retains the original vintage gauges, bench seat, and the Hurst shifter. It also still has the chrome roll bar installed. It has all of the garnish moldings which are in incredible condition. This car would have had no problem winning Best Appearing car at any track back then and would definitely still be a crowd favorite/trophy winnerany place you take it today. Of course the 1940 and 1941 Willys have skyrocketed in value and they should. They are awesome. If you want a real deal Willys with history, this is a rare opportunity to get one for much less than those. I am selling this, my 1929 Roadster, and my 1932 steel Ford Coupe. Clean, clearCalifornia title in hand and registered with the factory Willys VIN. My dog Johnny Cash would not be included in the sale for all of the money in the world. I am located in Solana Beach, CA in North County San Diego. All in all, this is an amazing car that I do not think anybody will be disappointed with. It is that cool. Thanks and good luck!
