1953 Willys M38A-1 Additional Info:

Sadly to say we have been selling Jeeps since 1981 and now we are closing our doors. This Willys has been ours since February of 2003 and has satproudly on our showroom floor. It has brought a smile to many veterans and children alikebut now it is time to go. When we obtained the vehicle back in 2003 the owner had just completed $5,815.36 worth of repairs. The 24 volt system was removed, liminating the original battery compartment cover and was converted to a 12 volt system. The Willys was completely disassembled sand and bead blasted of all rust. Rusted metal was cut out and replaced, ll body parts prepped and coated with Eastwoods finest products. The Willys was repainted with military spec. semi gloss olive drab paint. The hood is a little wavy and the tops of the fenders a little nicked. The cushions were made for the tops of the fenders . Original style seat frames installed. There is no top for the Willys or windshield motors or wipers. There is no horn Back in 2003 the front end and steering linkage were rebuilt, ll new springs front and rear, ear axle shaft replaced, ransmission rebuilt with all new parts, ransfer case had new bearings and seals installed, ew clutch assembly, -joints replaced, ew brakes, heel cylinders, aster cylinder, lex brake lines replaced, ew gas tank, ew in dash Stewart Warner gauges including speedometer, il pressure, uel gauge, ater temperature, nd amp meter. We have still not been able to find the right speedo cable and we have not calibrated the fuel gauge for accuracy. New military style taillights, irectional signals, new military style non directional tires on the original wheels, ll new electrical wiring and the list goes on. Because the vehicle was not driven for so long, e just completed these services: we replaced the front and rear pinion seals and resealed the frontand rear cover. We removed and rebuilt, esealed the transfer case, ebuilt and sealed the transmission, ew pilot bearing and spring, ew rubber mounts, we installed new valve cover, ide cover and oil pan gaskets, e set the valves and installed a new belt. we did the rear main seal. we installed a new oil filter, uel filter, uel pump, arburetor, nstalled new fuel lines and a new oil fill tube(still waiting on the oil dip stick to arrive).Thereis a small leak in the transfer case and the vehicle from not being driven smokes a little at start up( it clears up when driven). The odometer reads 0 miles and we have no idea what the true mileage is, o the vehicle will be soldTRUE MILEAGE UNKNOWN. Overall the vehicle looks and runs great considering its age. I tried to be as thorough as I could. If you have any questions please call Lenihan Jeep,451 Rt. 73 South, arlton, .J. 08053, 56-983-3800ask for Tom Lewis or see it onlenihanauto.com. Thank You
