1982 Volvo 240 242 Additional Info:

Very good condition collectible work horse, good gas mileage, fun to drive with a lot of life left! 1982 Volvo 242 2 door coupe, 4 speed.A lot of character. Would make a great college car or a candidate for paint project. Very good mechanical condition! Runs very well. Well cared for, has many good features. Clean interior I'm rating 8/10...vehicle owned by non-smoker. The underside is very clean...rated at at least 8/10. Body panels (doors) I'm rating 7/10 as there is surface rust on the outside corners and could use some effort if it's desirable to restore this baby. Engine & transmission & clutch are a solid 8/10. Everything on this 242 is genuine OEM.This 242 has a number of classic features including some upgrades such as the wheels. They are the original 5 big spoke steel wheels with the original two piece center caps, original beauty rings and excellent Hankook tires with 60-70% life left. The grille is homologated like the kind that appeared on the turbo models. Grille has all mounting pins and is in good condition (if you want an original grille that came on this particular car from the factory, I have a good condition one that I can include with the car). Also included with vehicle are the studded snow tires with very good tread and OEM wheel covers. Headrest covers/pads are clean and also an original upgrade option. The original owner used these in the winter only.Interior ceiling is the hard custom formed type, and also paintable (not the soft material). It has not been retouched, but is in very solid condition and has no damage. Windshield has no cracks, just one small chip. All other windows have no chips or cracks.

Recent work completed: replaced heater fan/blower motor and rheostat last month(7/2016)-- a $700 job from Volvo. Replaced center muffler recently. Have extra OEM taillights for both sides. Highlights include great bumpers--beautiful aluminum surface with exceptional bumper rubber guards. Other things are also very good: map pockets, door panels, glove box, floor trays all excellent. Windows roll up very easily. Mirrors are very good and clear, body trim good. Instrument cluster has working trip odo...zeros out well. All turn signals, lights, wipers, etc. work well. Thick brass Volvo high mileage emblems on trunk. If you buy the car, I'll send you a 300k badge when you get there!!

Needs: If you want to make this a showroom car, the door panels could use body work. The roof has peeling paint along the perimeter. No rust on roof...just paint peeling. The rocker panels are in very good condition...yet one area toward rear could use sanding/painting. As expected with an 82 model, there are little dings, dents and additional corrosion spots which appear on the car and I have not attempted to hide any of them in the photos. The push button switch for the 5th gear could use replacement. Runs a comfortable 65-70 mph in 4th. Many people just don't use their push button 5th gears, finding them unnecessary. I have placed an authentic dash mat on the dash (just lays on it) as the dash as there are a number of the typical cracks you might find in a vehicle of this age/vintage. The front dash component area looks very good though. No issues there. I have an OEM antenna I will provide. Car has no stereo in it.

Car is trustworthy and pretty nice looking and is a fine running example of Swedish Engineering! No reserve.

There is a good airport in our town of Montrose, Colorado. Also I could probably make arrangements to meet you at the Grand Junction Airport (larger regional airport) north of us on Interstate 70.
