This is a 1968 Volvo 123 GT. It is a rare Canadian built GT. It retains the unique features that differentiate the 123 GT from the standard 122 model. These include the factory Smith tachometer, Recaro seat mechanisms, limited slip rear end, three spoke steering wheel, and the B series 115 hp engine with twin SU carbs. It is a factory red with black interior car. This is a project car that I bought several years ago from the original owner who was a true Volvo enthusiast and gentleman. It had been stored inside a heated garage for years. As it has sat untouched, it will need full re-commissioning for the road. Brakes, clutch master cylinder, exhaust, and no doubt replacement of rubber components in the suspension will be required, and fuel system cleaned. As well, the front floors will need to be replaced and the jacking points redone with the readily available subframe repair members. There is rust on the lower of the driver's door skin, and several places where the old lacquer paint has come off and surface rust resulted. I put grease over top of these which is why they appear yellow in the photos. Pictures show these areas on roof and around the car. Bottom of doors are solid. This car was "Ziebarted" repeatedly when new and it has helped preserve the car. There is no rust around the headlights where it typically would be seen. The car had a repaint decades ago and the paint is crazed in areas, stained in others, shows scratches and knicks but no dents. The engine turns freely, and was started with a remote gas can and sounded good. Battery was installed and electrical systems seem good, headlights, heater blower and wipers. Chrome is very good including the over-riders. All stainless trim is complete and presents nicely. Original upholstery is also very good and shows long term care. The driver's seat has one seam on the top corner that needs restitching. Glass is all good. I am missing the door cranks for the windows and one door lever. I do have the rubber door pulls that will accompany the car along with the original jack. I purchased and had installed 4 brand new tires in the last month. They are the original size. I have the complete set of original keys to accompany the car. This is a rare opportunity to own and restore one of the Holy Grails in the collectible Volvo line. This was a original one owner car until I purchased it. Please feel free to ask questions. Upon sale an initial deposit of $500 US will be required within 24 hrs of auctions close. The balance is due within seven days by wire transfer to my banking institution. I regret selling this amazing Volvo, but know I do not have the time to devote to it, and I hate for it to sit. Personal inspections are welcome. Shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser, but can help your carrier load. Thank you for your interest. |
