1965 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon 21 window micro-bus Additional Info:

I've owned this VW Microbus since 1975. It was an excellent running machine.
I added the following modifications:
1. front end from 1972 VW Bus with power assisted disk brakes, (four wheels are from 72 Bus);
2. Added 3 gauges, oil temp & oil pressure, head temp;
3. space for 16 gal gas tank (gas tank not included),
4. engine modified with external oil filter and optional oil cooler hookup;
5. converted from 6 volt to 12 volt.
6. New body parts (to be installed) include front nose panel, new cargo floor, new front floor, new battery tray, and skylight window panels.
7. Rest of body in OK shape, but body work is needed.
8. Most hardware is available but some small pieces went missing during a move last year.
This is a perfect restoration project for someone with welding skills - can easily quadruple the investment.

I've added some more photos below showing many of the parts that were saved during dismantling. Also shown below are the Title, Original registration, Identification plate, and Chassis number. I ran out of room in the ebay photo gallery, so I added the extra photos in the description.
Most of the areas with a fair amount of rust have been removed so they can be replaced with new parts, but you can see in the photo gallery that there is rust at most of the window frames - the media blast & powder coating has essentially stopped further deterioration. You should note from the photos taken of the roof area that except for a few pinhole spots in the roof itself, the rust was confined to the skylight window frames, but the rain gutter is rust free. The challenging part to restoring this vehicle will be replacing the skylight window frames, inner and outer frames. The new front nose part includes half-window frames that will replace the rusted ones. The rest of the rusted areas should be easier to access and repair.
I've attached two receipts for most of the new & used replacement parts that come with the Bus - they cost about $3,700 - the dismantling and prep for sheet metal replacement cost about $4,500 in labor not counting my own & other friends' labor - the media blasting and powder coating cost another $3,500. That adds up to about $12,000 so far. Several people have asked what my price is, and I don't have a good answer - that's why I put it up for auction. I've owned the Bus since 1975, and it's become like an old friend that I've shared many adventures with, so part of me is reluctant to sell at all. I would like to see the micro-bus restored to its former glory, but if my reserve price is not met, i may just decide to store it for a while longer until the right person comes along or I'm motivated to finish restoring it myself as unlikely as that may be.
There are a few parts that went missing during moving the bus over the last two years, and I've put together a list of what I think are the most critical missing parts:
1. Both front windshields (I was going to replace them anyway)
2. Both turn signal light fixtures
3. Sunroof parts, mainly the front metal bar with handle that secures sunroof is missing and most miscellaneous small parts.
4. Sheet metal part behind engine that engine door latches to.
5. Speedometer
6. Clock
7. Ignition switch, headlight switch, turn-signal lever, gas gauge, miscellaneous switches on dashboard
8. Accelerator pedal
9. 16 gallon gas tank (from 1972 VW Bus)
10. 3 pieces of deluxe body trim - the 2 trim pieces for front nose piece are missing (actually never had them) and 1 curved trim piece that fit on right hand side curving to rear hatch door is missing.
There is a possibility that I can still locate some of these parts now that I know they are missing, but no guarantees.
