1973 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Additional Info:

Just finished racing this sweet Superbeelte at New Jersey Motorsports park for a 24 Hours of Lemon's Race. Performed and drove well in class C. Could use a beefier power plant, but was still a blast. Won't get into crap can racing (chump car racing) much cheaper than this with cage already lemons approved and ready to go. ( facebook.com/fastfreefahrvergnugen )
The Good ($2000 worth of new "saftey" parts and pieces):
Brand new disc brakes all the way around
New rubber all 4 wheels
6 point (lemons inspected and approved roll cage)
Fuel injection (megasquirt computer and harness will take $150 off price if sold without)
Junkyard Coil Over front struts
GSXR Throttle bodies and custom intake runners
High Pressure Fuel pump
plumbed with return fuel line
New High pressure Oil pump with integrated oil filter
Have all glass and 98% of stock pieces
fiberglass fenders
With everything stripped out this car is really light and handled surprisingly well on the track.
Has clean title
almost no rust on this car, but has 6 point roll cage installed
Original Type 1 1600 engine with stock bearing sizes for cam and crank (can be machined)
Now the bad:
Engine runs but has stopped making power. Don't think it is too serious (engine still fires up and doesn't knock or sound horrendous, justdoesn'tgetabove3000rpm or make any kind of power, may just need to tune the fuel injection), or a quick rebuild on engine should get it working again. Bearings are all stock size so any machining on case shouldn't be a problem. Half the team has kids or kids on the way, so we don't have the $$$ or time to get the engine back up and running for future races. All you need to race is fix engine (or put in a better one, put in race seat and belts (we are keeping our), and rent a race suit)
Noreserve to get it out of my garage fast.
