1967 Volkswagen Squareback Wagon Additional Info:

Offered for bid at no reserve is a original California black plate 1967 Type III Squareback. This cool classic has spent it's entire life in California. I bought this last year from the family of a recently passed aircraft mechanic who lovingly cherished, upgraded, and enjoyed this VW since purchased new in the LA area in 1967. As you can see the car has the classic Cal look. Some might call it a resto mod or rat look Vdub. It's been tastefully lowered. There are lots of trick parts on this car. The engine has Gene Berg high performance internals from what the brother told me. He believes it's a 1776cc with Berg big valve heads and performance cams. What I do know is that it has a very tidy motor done right, with genuine Spain made dual Webers, Gener Berg Oil cooler, performance headers with quiet muffler(megaphone straight pipe included), short shift, MSD pointless ignition. This car was done right. It runs very good, starts on first turn of the ignition, shifts super fast, drives straight. I believe a valve adjustment might be in order as it's been a few years since it was dialed in. All the gauges work, the previous owner installed a VDO rpm gauge that perfectly fit where the clock was. I have the original clock which we be included. VDO oil pressure and temperature gauges were added below the column very tastefully. A hidden mini toggle kill switch is installed under the dash for car theft safety. Blue tooth cd stereo is installed in glove box, speakers could use an upgrade. Interior lights work as well as dash lights high beams etc. Turn signals are intermittent at the moment. Ireplaced the front chromeunits and may have crossed a wire. I will sort that out prior to auction end.The car has front disc brakes but the pads may be due for replacement and perhaps a bleeding of the lines as the pedal requires a bit of pressure. The exterior has a decent semi pro paint job with more of a satin finish rather than super glossy. The car appears to have a few spots of previous small rust repair spots fromwhat I can see under close examination, but it appears to be a very solid and rust free example with solid floors on the pan and inside the front trunk area and lower rocker areas. This squareback was originally red, the respray looks like a slightly lighter red. The interior was rehabbed awhile back and looks good but the door and side panels need some attention as well as the headliner. The key is original and it works in the ignition as well as all the locks which is quite rare these days. This super cool cruiser comes with a huge amount of parts. The parts alone are probably worth more than theopening bid of $1000. Included are early Empi rims, extra cylinder heads, carbs, manifolds, trim pieces, rubber mouldings, window glass, lots of parts in unopened packages. An extra rear bumper that isn't shown, and the rare bound factory service manuals. The car has a very rare FIV wood Italian steering wheel which was used on some Maseratis and Ferraris and is probably worth around $500 on it's own. This car is a headturner and conversation piece. Lots of thumbs up from drivers when I take it out for a drive. Please be serious and follow through on payment if you intend to bid.
