1980 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic 1300 Additional Info:

This is no ordinary Beetle, and in fact isn't officially a Beetle at all. This is a 1981 Volkswagen Fusca, made after the German production ended for the Brazilian market at VW Do Brasil, in Sao Paulo
This car belonged to Bob Scott, a VW enthusiast who owned Vintage Parts in Glendale, CA. After VW of America stopped importing air cooled cars, he made contacts with the Sao Paulo factory and imported OEM Parts and, indeed, on his final trip south, he brought back three cars that were imported and registered in California.
This is one of them, Chassis BO170450. It's also not like any other Beetle you'll find in North America. Among the differences are:
  • 1300cc Type 1 Upright Engine with a Puma or Brasilia style fan shroud
  • Carbureted with a 28PIC carburetor, with manual choke and oil bath air cleaner
  • 4 Speed synchronized manual transmission
  • Brazilian market bumpers and brackets
  • Single Driver side exterior mirror, in Plastic
  • Rear bench seat and Sporty-looking front seats, finished in a Brazilian market only "Plasticy" material
  • Plastic Door cards and reverse-rotation window winders
  • Top-dispense fuel tank, not gravity fed
  • Manual operated wiper washer system
  • Brazilian Market Typeface on speedometer and fuel gauge
  • Square Hub Steering Wheel
  • Angle-"cut" Turn Signal Housings and lenses
  • Tapered Exhaust Tips
  • King/Link Pin front suspension
  • Swing Axle rear suspension
  • Brazilian market 4 lug wheels
This car is unmolested and only has 17,000 miles (28,000 Kilometers). The seats up front have some tearing and the roof has surface rust due to the lack of primer at the Sao Paulo factory, but otherwise the car is immaculate and a true factory survivor.
It has, with it's "sister" Fuscas, have been traded between collectors since Bob Scott passed away, but this one has not left the San Fernando Valley since it was brought the United States. It's presently in Northridge, California and includes current valid California registration and California Plates, as well as the original Dealer-ordered Sao paulo VW 1981 Plates marking the car's origins. The car has been driven regularly and taken care of by a VW specialist shop in preparation for sale and can be viewed by appointment.

*Sale does not include roof rack or surf boards pictured*
*Shipping Info* The car is legally registered and titled in California. International buyers are responsible for exportation costs and can arrange for departure from the Port of Los Angeles, California.
