4WD 1 Owner - 75 Photos

Thanks for checking out this hard to find 1987 VW Vanagon GL Syncro 4WD. This is a true 1 owner Syncro, bought new at Volkswagen of Beaverton (Meier Volkswagen), Beaverton, Oregon on 1/17/88. James and Mary, at that time were in their late 40’s, and wanted something that had a lot of room, that they could take out enjoy out in the wilderness, fishing, camping exploring etc, but they loved it so much, they never took it barely off the paved road. This Syncro has been well cared for, and is in great condition. There is absolutely NO – RUST on this Vanagon, it is in amazing shape. I have most of all the receipts of service, they either had it serviced at VW or German repair shops. I have the original window sticker, Sales contract. Also a log of the miles he put on the van, currently has 129,644. This is an amazing find, and I hope to find a very good home for it. Check out the photos, there are over 75 of them below, this Syncro is in great shape, fly in and drive it home if you like. Give me a call if you need more information about it. Thanks, Jason 503-910-2085

Condition: Mechanically, it is in great condition. James had the upper end rebuilt a while back, and transmission rebuilt. The engine starts right up, sounds great, and does not blow any smoke or burn oil. Has typical engine seepage, but nothing that really hits the ground, it is 30 years old. The engine and transmission are original, as well as the Syncro. This one also has the Locker as well, as you can see on the dash. The engine runs great, you can drive it anywhere. The transmission shifts excellent, I have never felt a gear shift on an Vanagon that is this tight and new feeling, normally they are all worn out. This van runs so smooth down the road, it is an amazing driver. rarely off road, well cared for and garaged most of its life. It really does not have any issues, but for many years occasionally the water reservoir reads low, and a little bit of water needs to be added, pretty minimal, no idea where the water went, neither does the repair shops, sounds pretty minor, but just wanted to point it out. Everything works, all the electrical, all the exterior lights. The brakes work great, does not pull, just stops nice and straight. Mechanically it is in great shape, very good driving Vanagon.

The Paint and Body are in great shape with only a few minor rocks and minor scratches. It has never been in any accidents, but the sliding door has been repainted on the lower section from what he remembers back in the 90’s. He was at the grocery store, and some lady ran her shopping cart down the side of the door and scratched it, so he had the door repainted and blended back in. There are various digs and small indentions on the body, but very few, more on the sliding door in general from being opened and closed. There are various scratches and chips on it from being used, not to the point were I would repaint it, maybe some touchup and a good detailer could make it better or just drive the thing like it should be. The paint is good, clear is still good on it, not like many you see were the clear was backed, this one is clean. There are no rust bubbles on the body, it is in great condition. All the original glass is in great shape, no cracks. I took a bunch of photos underneath as well, and you tell a lot about a rig from underneath, you folks in the east will really appreciate it underneath. Take a look at the photos below and you will get a very good idea of what it is, this is a nice time capsule.

The Interior is in awesome condition overall, some wear from being used, but really in amazing condition. Headliner, carpets, door panels, all look very great. Dash pad is crack free, very clean. This is a NON SMOKER, and well cared for. It is hard to find a Vanagon, especially a Syncro in this condition. The rig runs very smooth- a comfortable driver. This is a very nice 4x4, drives beautiful, someone is going to get a nice rig. It has a few flaws here and there, but overall a great rig, that you can actually drive and enjoy.

I have been selling classic cars here on eBay since 2003, 12 years now, with around 600 classic cars sold over the internet. What I love about these old cars, is that I get to own some of my favorite cars one at a time, I have turned this passion into a business, but for me it is an awesome time to enjoy the cars themselves. It has been such a joy to do business with people all over the world. I have sold multiple cars to many buyers all over from Europe, Dubai, Australia, Japan, Brazil, just to name a few. It has always been a pleasure, getting to know other car enthusiast all over the Continent, especially some that have become very good friends of mine because of our love for cars. I look forward to doing business here on ebay for many years to come, and look forward to meeting some other like minded classic car nuts like myself. If you would like to call me and talk about the car, that would be great, would love to help you out, if you want to call and talk about cars, it would be my pleasure, I am on the hunt for any Interesting classics, odd ball and unique vehicles. Please, come out and personally take a look at it in person, or send a friend or inspector, or transporter, always better if possible to see it with your own eyes, I am close to major airport, and easy to get to. These are classic vehicles, with lots of history, almost years old, so they are used, not perfect, they don’t have warranties, or guarantees, they are as is, where is, nothing else is promised, I can’t possibly explain every little thing about a vehicle in writing, believe me I've tried, lol, seeing in person is always best, I try to give an good description, and normally over 75 photos at least, so you can get a good gauge of what it is, and isn’t. Look forward to hearing from you, please give me a call, 503-910-2085 - Jason
