1973 Volkswagen Bus Pop top Camper
PNO. Registered as Non-Operational, smog exempt. Selling as is.
Hasn’t been registered in several years, stored in my garage in Tustin, CA for the last 5 or 6 years. Before that it was stored at Public Storage for a couple of years by me. Exterior and interior are clean and in good condition. I’m pretty sure it was made into a camper.
Pictures that show outdoors are from when I was driving it. I only drove it about a year or so and haven’t used it since. Pictures taken in my garage are recent and were taken for purposes of this sale. Underneath bus are also recent as are the last 6 pictures of the odometer, engine and interior. When i bought it, it had about 63,000 miles on it. Dealer said those were original miles since it was stored indoors for 20 years before I purchased it. They said bus has original engine.
Had my friend check on the bus and he said battery may be flooded with water so won’t turn over or charge. I cannot start the bus so purchaser will need to tow. Bus hasn’t been started in about 4 1/2 to 5 years.
Back seats need to be screwed down, screws pulled up so seat/fold out bed isn't stable. Should be able to get done with just a screw driver. Inside sliding door handle fell off, I bought a new one it just needs to be installed. Door does open without handle in any case. All curtains are included, also a privacy curtain. Fold up dining table also needs to be screwed? So it doesn’t flop around while driving. It worked while I was driving it around but I think something came loose there. I do not know if the sink works, have never used it. Pop up tent works but the canvas around it needs to be replaced, there are tears in it. While I was driving it around it didn’t cause rain to leak inside so it was water tight when closed. There is no mold on the inside but again come take a look if you’re interested.
It’s a beautiful bus, nice and clean inside and out. Please check pictures for underneath the vehicle, I’m not familiar with engine stuff so I can not tell what the condition looks like underneath. Feel free to come take a look if you’re local and bring your mechanic if you wish.
I purchased it and painted it in 2009. Purchased from West Coast Classics in Santa Monica, CA.
Since it does not run it will need to be towed at buyer’s expense. If shipping overseas, buyer will be responsible for shipping and handling and all costs associated.
