1979 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Type 2 Westfalia Campmobile Additional Info:

I bought this bus from Mecum Auction Kansas City 3/11 and have great memories with my son taking several trips in without any problems. He's grown up now and I just don't use anymore so decided to sell. I always stored covered up in temp controlled shop in winter. It has a 2.0 l engine with a weber carb that doesn't smoke and always started right up and a 4 speed manual transmission that run and shift nicely.(Engine does have oil drip after driving and getting back. Just noticed recently) Odometer read around 93K when I purchased and now reads 3800 but have no idea what mileage really is. Headlights, reverse lights, flashers, blinkers, wipers, both inside lights, louvered windows, back hatch, sliding door, front doors and windows, wing windows, heater, gas gauge and radio all work as they should. The 110 AC electrical plug on outside works to power the double outlets, that are inside to plug in whatever is needed and are circuit breaker protected. Has rear window defroster that light on switch comes on when pushed but not sure if it actually works. (Never needed it and don't want to burn up leaving on now) All inside doors and drawers open and latch nicely and the 2 different size tables fit and lock down nicely. Theice chest opens, latches and drains nicely as well does the sink and water faucet drain and turn on/off properly. The floor in back is wood laminate that has no issues and the front floorboard has black rubber/vinyl one piecefloor mat thatfits nicely covering it. The vinyl covered cardboard front door panels are little loose on bottom as well as a little damaged. The headliners fit and look as they should. The very back cushion was missing when I bought it and I found a different one but isn't same color as all rest of the interior. The front seats tilt and adjust forward as they should and the passenger seat swivels around to face back nicely. The privacy curtains open and close on the cable hanger properly as well does the front windshield curtain snap up. The back hatch has a screen that snaps in when you have open that fits nice. The pop top roof hatch opens and closes nicely and also seals properly. Thepop top canvas has got some holes in the front as does the screen window but the screen window cover zips and operatesnicely.(holes just happened by getting closed on latch) The bunk house bed folds open and closes nicely as well does the bottom bed unlock and, open and fold out properly. It drives down the road on nice tires pretty straight with very little play in steering wheel. The brakes work well including emergency brake. The shocks are good and the springs might need some attention due to a slight tilt when looking at from behind. The body is straight and has solid metal under the paint that is still really nice with only very few small chips except the rear bumper that's chipped and cracked and metal bent where son tried jacking up. The undercarriage is in good shape and was undercoated at some time. Bus just got a tune up which included new coil, cap and rotor, plug wires, spark plugs and timing set. Comes with a custom cover that has been covering it while sitting in my climate controlled shop this last year. I think that pretty much describes the condition of the bus and how it is mechanically in myopinion. Questions will be answered in timely manner and bus can be inspected and surveyed with short notice. It's located just 5 miles east of Omaha, Nebraska near Cresent, IA. Shipping is the responsibilityof whoever buys bus. No trades or help selling is needed.
