1972 VW Karmann Ghia Coupe Totally restored. 48,323 Miles Volkswagens answer to the demand for a sporty “People’s Car” was the Karmann Ghia. The body was designed by Ghia of Turin Italy and the coachwork was hand built by Karmann of Germany. The result was a low, 2+2 coupe with a proportional front and read end. Internally called the “Type 14”, it utilized the VW Beetle’s existing engine and mechanicals which offset the high cost of the new body. Built from 1956 to 1974 it soon became one of America’s most imported automobile. Even though there were so many imported, there are very few today that qualify to be restored as in this particular specimen. Look at the pictures closely of the exterior, interior and underside. It is finished in a bright green non metallic with a new black interior. It has the standard 4-cylinder 1584cc/50hp 1bbl engine with a very rare three speed synchromesh automatic transmission.
