1983 Volkswagen WESTFALIA VANAGON Additional Info:

I have for sale a 1983 VW Westfalia Vanagon with so much potential. My father and I purchased this beautiful van back in Aug 2016 in hopes to give it some TLC and get her in tip top running condition. Unfortunately, in Jan my father had a stroke so he is in no condition to be working on a vehicle. It has been sitting in the driveway since Aug.

Here's the low-down:

She runs but there is some sort of battery-motor misconnection. Something keeps it connected and drains the battery even when it's off so then the battery dies. To avoid that, we have just been disconnecting the battery after we run it. Weve gotten her running several times and taken her for a spin around the block, the motor runs strong, when it's running, but it definitely needs a full diagnostic and new brakes or somebody that knows how to tweek with it. The previous owner did some wiring in the dash so there is an ignition-start button, (that is why, in pic, there is a part of the dash missing) So all that wiring should be looked over too. We don't know VW very well, could be a small fix, could be something more but we don't have the time to figure her out. Overall she is in great condition for a 34 yr old Westy. The interior and carpeting has little to no wear, the pop top bed looks and feels brand new. It's very comfortable! The front seats have some rips. The canvas pop top needs to be replaced/patched as you can see the large rip on the left side and smaller hole on the right side, theres also a few smaller holes throughout. It pops open smooth and holds strong. It has sat in the rain and there are absolutely no leaks when the the top is locked down and no mold/mildew smell. It stays dry all around. Sink and stove look like new and both work. Not sure about the refrigerator, we duno how it connects to the power but a Westy person prolly knows off the top of their head. There is stock AC but the compressor is missing. The undercarriage is clean with no rust. The only rust is shown on those small spots on the exterior and the muffler, see pics. The silly skull on the side could probably just be painted over or buffed out. All original, low 71371 miles and I bet with the right owner she will be good as new in no time. She has a 2.0 liter aircooled motor and a clean title.

We are really sad to let her go but it's just not the right time for us. Local pickup or buyer pays for shipping. We could probably help you find a shipper from our location. We are located in Tampa Bay Area, FL.

Sale is final AS IS no warranties etc. I have described the kinks to the best of my knowledge. She is a 34 year old van so any other unforseen kinks that we missed could be around too. My father has gone over it top to bottom and we can email you more pics if interested. A $1000 non-refundable deposit required within 24hrs of auction ending via paypal or listing will go to next highest bidder. When deposit is made, balance must be paid within 36 hrs AND arrangements must be made with my father about pickup/shipping. Any questions, please don't hesitate to call Richard @ (727) 207-7356, if no answer please leave a message, he will call you back.

Thanks for looking and we look forward to this beauty going to a rightful owner! :))
