1982 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon Additional Info:

Up for sale is a 1982 VW Vanagon Diesel. It has 132,434 miles currently. I've owned it for 4 years and haven't driven it much in the last year or two so I decided to sell it. I used it daily as my work van for 2 years and it never let me down, even all winter. The van is 35 years old so obviously there are a few things that could use some TLC.
The Good:- New Battery always starts right up- Resealed fuel tank Tank was removed and seals were replaced, fuel gauge works- New timing belt and tensioner 5k miles ago (2 years ago)- Rebuilt mechanical diesel pump on engine no leaks- Bio-Diesel conversion was performed All rubber fuel lines were replaced- New coolant bottle installed- Several new brake lines and hoses installed- New Glow plugs installed- New muffler- Cold start cable is not frozen and works well- Emergency brake works- Vehicle comes with 3 keys that work all the doors/ignition- Horn, headlights, wipers, tail lights, radio work- Oil change was just performed (6/8/17)

Not so good:- Heater fan in dash doesn't work- There are some areas of rust - Passenger side door step, bottom of sliding door, behind front bumper, under some of the window seals, etc nothing too bad, these are the normal rust areas for these vans. Some of it will need to be welded up with repair panels- Sliding door is a little stiff to open but slides well- Front sway bar has a broken link, so I removed the end link to prevent it from bouncing around and hitting something. It will need a new swaybar and drop link- Rear seat needs to be reupholstered. Middle bench seat is missing- Oil filler/dipstick tube broke and was unavailable so I modified it and made a new dipstick-- works fine, no leaks
- Clock doesn't work in dash- Engine emits black smoke if you give it full throttle when going up a steep hill or accelerating quickly. Not sure why but it runs fine otherwise.- Vehicle was originally a beige color, exterior has a pretty bad paint job of white paint that seems to have been applied with a roller, not sprayed.

This van always starts right up and runs well. I've used Bio-diesel in it and it also runs well on that. The engine has 48 hp so needless to say, it's pretty slow to drive. On the highway it tops out at 55 or 60mphI'd be confident it could make a journey locally but I wouldn't plan on driving it cross country until a few things are sorted out. Vehicle can be test driven if need be and is currently registered and insured. Feel free to contact me with any more questions or to arrange a test drive. Thanks for looking
